La época navideña en ocasiones nos hace salir corriendo a hacer compras de último momento. Yo personalmente no soy fan de estar saliendo a hacer compras en estas fechas porque sé lo caótico que puede llegar a ser.
Pero pues, tocaba hacerlo así que me armé de valor y me fui al centro de la ciudad de Cabimas para ver si encontraba una blusita para mi, comprar unos fuegos artificiales para mi hijo y unas bebidas para disfrutar durante la cena navideña.
Salí desde bien temprano para evitar el caos, pero tuve un pequeño retraso en la vía porque me tocó hacer cambio de transporte ya que el mío debía quedarse en la vía haciendo cola para la gasolina (solo pasa en Venezuela 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️)

The holiday season sometimes makes us rush out to do some last minute shopping. I personally am not a fan of going out shopping at this time of year because I know how chaotic it can be.
But it was time to do it, so I got up the courage and went to the centre of the city of Cabimas to see if I could find a little blouse for myself, buy some fireworks for my son and some drinks to enjoy during the Christmas dinner.
I left very early in the morning to avoid the chaos, but I had a small delay on the road because I had to change transport as mine had to stay on the road queuing for petrol (only happens in Venezuela 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️).
Luego de estos percances logré llegar a mi primera parada, una tienda donde venden los fuegos artificiales al mayor y al detal.
Decidí ir a este sitio porque el día anterior había salido a comprar con mi hijo por acá cerca de casa para que tuviera para disfrutar la noche buena en compañía de sus amigos, pero nos encontramos con la noticia de que los precios habían aumentado al doble descaradamente.
Algo que costaba 15 bs pretendían venderlo en 30, inclusive buscando un mejor precio lo encontré en 55 bs.
Por supuesto yo no iba a comprarlo y me fui directamente hasta la tienda que los vendía. Las cosas que venden en esta tienda son impresionantes y provocaba comprar de todo.
Yo por supuesto compré cosas pequeña y de bajo riesgo para mí hijo, la idea es que disfrute el momento pero que no exista peligro en ello. Con 4$ compré varias cositas, lo que acá llamamos mini foo, cebollitas y unas varillas de colores.
After these mishaps I managed to get to my first stop, a shop where they sell fireworks wholesale and retail.
I decided to go to this place because the day before I had gone out shopping with my son near my house so that he could enjoy Christmas Eve in the company of his friends, but we found out that the prices had blatantly doubled.
Something that cost 15 bs they were trying to sell for 30 bs, even looking for a better price I found it at 55 bs.
Of course I wasn't going to buy it and went straight to the shop that sold them. The things they sell in this shop are impressive and I was tempted to buy everything.
I of course bought small and low risk things for my son, the idea is that he enjoys the moment but that there is no danger in it. With 4$ I bought several little things, what we call here mini foo, onions and some coloured sticks.
Al salir de ahí me fui hasta el centro y segunda parada era la tienda Tío Ammi. Cómo les dije, el día iba a ser algo caótico y me encontré una fila bajo el fuerte sol del medio día para poder guardar los bolsos y compras.
En las tiendas no dejan entrar con esto por seguridad para evitar el robo, pero no deja de ser algo fastidioso.
Mientras esperaba un tanto impaciente, miraba a mi alrededor la cantidad de personas que había. Es un flujo de personas que no se ve normalmente, y que no veía desde hace muchísimos años.
Cuando por fin entre a la tienda me encontré con muchísimas personas en su interior pero no encontré nada de lo que iba buscando. La ropa simplemente no era mi estilo y luego de un pequeño recorrido decidí irme a mi siguiente destino.
When I left I went to the centre and my second stop was the Tio Ammi shop. As I told you, the day was going to be a bit chaotic and I found myself in a queue under the strong midday sun to put my bags and purchases away.
The shops don't let you in with these for security reasons to avoid theft, but it's still a bit of a nuisance.
As I waited impatiently, I looked around me at the number of people. It's a flow of people that you don't normally see, and that I haven't seen for many, many years.
When I finally entered the shop I found a lot of people inside but I didn't find anything I was looking for. The clothes just weren't my style and after a short walk I decided to move on to my next destination.
En Mundo Total iba a comprar las bebidas que me había encargado mi esposo y con las que pasaríamos la noche, se llaman Four Loko y tienen un costo de 2.6 $.
Tienen varios sabores y la idea era comprar 6 diferentes. Al ponerme en la fila para pagar y ver el panorama me di cuenta que me tocaría estar un largo rato esperando pues esta le daba vuelta a la tienda.
Vi que habían unos 8 cajeros así que no desespere y me quedé ahí durante 1 hora, avanzando lentamente, conversando un poco con quiénes tenía a mi lado y viendo el resto de los artículos de la tienda.
Ya por fin estaba en la recta final y como yo, habían otras personas grabando y tomando fotos. Luego de pagar me encontré con otra fila, está vez para revisar las compras, comparar con las facturas y pues revisar lo que lleves en tu bolso pues acá si dejaban entrar pero con esa condición.

They have several flavours and the idea was to buy 6 different ones. When I got in line to pay and saw the view I realised that I was going to have to wait a long time because it went all the way around the shop.
I saw that there were about 8 cashiers so I didn't despair and I stayed there for 1 hour, moving slowly, chatting a bit with the people next to me and looking at the rest of the items in the shop.
I was finally in the final stretch and like me, there were other people filming and taking pictures. After paying I found myself in another queue, this time to check my purchases, compare them with the invoices and check what you had in your bag, because here they did let you in, but only on that condition.
Aún faltaba comprar mi blusa pero la verdad no tenía nada de ánimos de permanecer en el centro con tanto caos. Ya se habían hecho casi las 2 de la tarde y yo tenía solo el desayuno en mi estómago.
Así que comencé a esquivar personas para llegar a la parada dónde tomaría el transporte de regreso a casa.
No me siento mal por no tener ropa nueva para comprar para ponerme en navidad, para mí lo más importante es tener a mi familia unida y que tengamos comida deliciosa para compartir.
Ya si luego se da la oportunidad de comprar está bien, pero no es una prioridad. Espero el próximo año poder comprar con anticipación nuestra ropa, sé que todo estará mejor. ☺️✨
I still had to buy my blouse but I really didn't feel like staying in the centre with so much chaos. It was almost 2 o'clock in the afternoon and I only had breakfast in my stomach.
So I started dodging people to get to the bus stop where I would take the shuttle back home.
I don't feel bad about not having new clothes to buy to wear for Christmas, for me the most important thing is to have my family together and that we have delicious food to share.
If there is an opportunity to shop later, that's fine, but it's not a priority. I hope next year I can buy our clothes in advance, I know that everything will be better. ☺️✨
Al tomar transporte tome algunas fotos, la cantidad de vendedores ambulantes era impresionante, sobre todo porque era algo que estaba prohibido desde hace mucho tiempo pero el parecer las leyes han estado más flexibles con eso.
Les cuento que acá no termino mi día 😅, pero si la historia por ahora. Gracias por acompañarme en este pequeño recorrido.
The amount of street vendors was impressive, especially because it was something that had been forbidden for a long time but apparently the laws have been more flexible with that.
I tell you that this is not the end of my day 😅, but it is the end of the story for now. Thanks for joining me on this little tour.
