I conducted an informal poll on TikTok, which revealed that over 80% of Latinos perceive the term "Latinx" as offensive, insulting, or even a mockery of Latino or Hispanic culture. To delve deeper into these sentiments, I also posed the question, "Is Latinx a slur?" The responses further emphasized the strong opposition to the term, with more than 60% of participants expressing that they consider "Latinx" to be a slur. This poll highlights a significant disconnect between the intended inclusivity of the term and how it is actually received within the Latino community.
