I usually hardly watch anything but YouTube videos these days. That has changed over the course of the last few weeks though since I started watching hit TV show 'Breaking Bad'. Needless to say, I'm hooked. The only thing still left to figure out is the reason why this show managed to draw me in so well, as it did Millions of people round the World.
When the show came had its first run from 2008-2013 I could care less. Everyone was talking about it then but it simply didn't seem like something I'd be interested in at the time. Fast forward to today and am glad about the timing of my decision to actually watch it. For me, I am probably a lot more mature to understand and enjoy the show than I was then.
For those who have no idea what the show is about, it's about a Brilliant but I underachiving Chemistry teacher who gets diagnosed with lung cancer. He ultimately decides to get involved in the World of drugs to raise enough money for his family when he passes away. Of course, things ultimately take many twists and turns as he embarks on this and he starts to unravel.
Watching it, I think why the show is so good is because it is so relatable. Of course the vast majority of us aren't drug dealers, but we can relate to things like challenges, depression, Pride, pain, grief, financial struggles, wanting better for our loved ones amongst many other things. People believe that most of us have what you call a 'breaking point' and I wonder to what extent this holds true.
As I ponder on the many relatable lessons I'll continue to enjoy the show.
