DOWN TO NOTHING..: Tale of The Nigerian Downtrodden Economy!!!.....

in Deep Dives9 months ago (edited)

Earlier today a friend of mine asked me, the type of job I'm going do,
since I have just graduated from the university, the question just made me laughed, because I find it to be the most hilarious thing I've heard today, I laughed because it's really funny if any graduate after school still hope to land his or her dream job, it's possible tho but really the chances are very very slim.

In a Country like ours where everyone has almost given up the hopes of a better country cause it has never gotten better, it's either from one tragedy to another, One Economic downturn to another, it's worsening everyday and in this wise the very hope of the common man has been dashed amd crumbled on the floor.

It has constantly been a struggle, a fight against the economy, an adaptive means of survival to always push ahead no matter what, I mean we're Nigerians we are use to these things happening so we were ready for whatever the new guy in power was cooking up for us.

It all started from the previous administration, when the new government came Into power and failed to elect the cabinet members on time, the delay in transitions and appointment Of competent individuals into office to handle certain responsibilities, his government ran for almost a half a year before given out appointment and on top of that he alone occupied three heavy offices that was too much to bare, The president, Minister of petroleum and mineral resources, we all knew this was a very terrible plan, and so through out his tenure every aspect of the economy was gradually elevating, the cost of living was becoming unbearable for the ordinary man, except for those in the corridor of powers, the rich and influential in the Nigerian society.

Fast-forward to the end of his tenure, as the tradition as always been he picked his successor another highly incompetent fellow, it was too evident everyone Knows it, but this guy was filthy rich and has more than enough money to buy the hearts and minds of every one.

I have been Into several arguments with people about the competent of these guy handling the economy, he was way too old for such a tasking job, as fixing the downtrodden economy of Nigeria as at the time, but all I get was

"Don't worry he will win the election, there's nothing anybody can do about it, they will just impose him there for us and pretend to carry out a free and fare general election"

That's exactly what happened, mean while there was a popular candidate with a wide spread acceptance all over the nation as a preferred candidate for the presidency but our electoral system is totally out of anything close to transparency, so all the dirty works were done behind close doors while the left overs were done openly to sway the people's conscience that a free and fare election was done

Off course these other guy won the election as predicted and I knew we were in deep shit

From day one he proposed removing the fuel subsidy and as much as it was also predicted that single act alone shattered the economy, the price of every thing till this day has never remained the same, The Nigerian economy at this point I would say it at its lowest point EVER in history , we've never had it this difficult before, the cost of living now is totally unbearable and unimaginable, the naira is fallen to it's lowest spot, you need more money to buy the very little and common things that usually goes for a penny, the hardship is so severe, Nigerians are suffering, crying, struggling, lamenting, the hardest part is there is no glimpse of hope insight

Right now the price of every item up for sale has tripled, and has gone beyond human comprehension, since our naira is pegged to the dollar and the economy is so dependent on imported items, the naira has gone down to its all time lowest, because of these, the cost price of everything so gone up affecting the cost of living and ease of doing business in Nigeria,
