Hello everyone welcome to my blog, today i will be taking you through the type of marriage i like and my reasons. Please vrag a pack of popcorn and let take a ride.
Growing up, I lived in a slum(agbo ile) in the old western region political sit in Nigeria. Our daily life is characterized with one drama or the other from area fighting, siblings fight, two girls fighting over a boyfriend or couples fighting.
Most often, the couples fight are usually from the inability of the man to provide for his family. Most times, this men usually send their wives back to their family after panel beating their body with Punches and sometimes cane or belt.
At the end of the day, the women will be asked to kneel and apologize to her husband because he is the head of the family. My grandmother whom I lived with will always tell me not to settle for this kind of marriage and make sure I have a means of livelihood before considering marriage.
That was exactly what I did and it paid off. All I wanted was a simple sitting room traditional marriage where my husband to be would come with few people that matter to him in his family to my family house to pay my bride prize and dowry after which we will proceed to have a small statutory marriage with great reception that offers a lot food and drinks to our few guests and we start living together.
I wanted a small party so it will be easier for me to work away if the marriage does not work out. I have raised my standards beyond beating but what about other characters that I might not have discovered during courtship. I do not want my parents or anybody telling me I will be putting them to shame if I decide to work out of a toxic marriage.
Moreso, I like somethings about me being private and because small weedings comes with little or no stress. My opinion was that the funds that would have gone into that big wedding can be used for other things or even better business. Don't get me wrong I enjoy great parties but I just like my things the way I like them and thanks to heaven for a great partner with whom I have been riding with for the past years.
Thanks for reading till the end.
