Tell us about the time you or a loved one became a victim of cyber security failure. It could be that you were hacked or they managed to get access to your details some other way.

I literally know that we are all going through a whole lot in life in one way or another, but then is it really necessary to steal from someone to survive?

I'll be sharing out a little experience of someone that was more like a family friend to us who fell into the trap of these people and really ended bad.

She was an accountant in an organization and was in charge of their money, whose net worth was around 2 million dollars plus.

And then, her workplace wanted to make a huge amount of transactions then, which was way more than their daily limit. So she messaged the wrong bank website to tell them that they wanted to increase her workplace transaction limit.

And that was how she fell into the wrong hands. They started asking for some kind of personal details of the account, which was supposed to be private for her not to share out.

But then, I literally can't say if she was being talked to with a charm or something because who in his or her right senses will want to give out such kind of information?

She then gave it out eventually, and then this guy whipped off all the money in the account after tricking her to get access to the account so just to be able to scam her.

And then, that was literally how she got scammed of the money, which wasn't her own, and it literally landed her in big trouble, which led to her committing suicide.

Because she didn't even know where to start from. Losing such an amount of money at that kind of time. Meanwhile, her salary was just #300,000.

And it wasn't like her own money; it was the money of the whole organization, and then I think she was so depressed to the extent she had to commit suicide.

Her loss was a really painful exit. She was known for her hard work and consistency in her workplace. But then it was quite unfortunate that things ended that roughly.

I was really pained about her loss. And then, I'm pretty sure the people behind that will be somewhere else celebrating the huge success they were able to attain.

But then, the question is, why would you want to be the kind of person that makes others cry to live a life? Why? Yes, we all know how things are tough and how people are really struggling to live.

But then, that's not the next thing to do regardless of how bad things are for you. You shouldn't make others cry to be able to live your life.

How did you get through that painful time? What did it teach you about cyber security?

She couldn't help but commit suicide because I'm sure she would have had lots of thoughts of where she wants to start from. Where does she start from? Especially in this critical period where no one is even ready to help in any way.

Everyone is struggling hard for their lives, so where does she want to start from? Or how does she want to do it?. I really felt for her badly, but then, it is well at the end of the day.

Lessons Learnt

Be careful who you share your personal information with. There are a lot of them out there who have no conciseness. They've got no heart. They can do anything just to live.

They've got no heart at all because if they do, they'll always try to consider the kind of condition the person they are duping might end up being in after the whole thing.

I've been there before, but mine wasn't this critical, but still, I still had a kind of tough time recovering from such a situation. But then we thank God for life.

Thank you for taking the time to go through my content, and I hope you've learned lots of lessons from the community's weekly prompt. This post is in response to the #Hivelearners weekly contest.

Sort:

This is what these cyber crimes could do with you, there should be strict action/punishment for these cyber scammers, they should be hangged till death. so that, no body think to do this again.

Honestly
That would serve as a great lessons to all of them.
But then it is well

How do people survive on other people's tears? Like how? Gosh! This is sad.

Honestly
I just seem not to understand
Thank you for stopping by
