I left this one in my drafts for too long. I can't believe I almost forgot all about it.
The fitness studio I attend had this thing where they host a dinner party for their anniversary and it seemed like a perfect time to wear my work to an event. I design the fits I wear. It makes me more comfortable that way since my outfits are mostly a reflection of my personality or how I felt while designing it.
I made the decision to attend this dinner last minute and since I was almost in a hurry I had a creative block. I almost cannot make myself design under pressure. It just has to click for the design to come ao I spent time doodling and forming lines out of nothing till I got this. I had 7 days or less to make this so I had to lock in. With Netflix as well 😅
My plan was to make a nice mesh dress and to wear a black body con. Black so my body is covered under but the color doesn't overwhelm the dress itself. I kept sending my progress to my sister lol.
I was feeling like it didn't look that good so I needed a neutral pair of eyes good thing she was available. I mostly cover my body in very long sleeves so this time I said Sleeveless and no hiding. 😅 Trust me I was nervous when I had this dress on but I started liking the feeling and went with the flow.
It all came together just as I wanted it. I'm a size 14 my mannequin is 10 so that explain why the waist part looks funny. I made criss Cross there so I didn't have to put ut behind and it'll make a cute design under my arms. So the design was functional and pretty.
I used lightweight yarn. Was not sure of the location didn't want to start sweating so much so this was safe doe me. I made extra single crochet rows on the neckline so it'll give ut a finer finish
As a crocheter one of the hardest things is making clothes for myself. I dunno if it happens to other but yeah it happens a ton. Its either I lose the vibe or I keep frigging beci feel the design just doesn't look perfect.
Lol as if perfect is a thing. Making this dress was a win. It felt so good that I finished up and that I made it how I wanted without backing down.
Would you wear this for a dinner night though? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
