A week or so ago, I wrote a post about the return of the Muppet Show. For those that missed it, briefly: The Muppet Show is coming back! Or so I thought when I wrote that post anyway.

It turns out that it was only a single special, made to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show. Finding that out somewhat deflated my joy.

BUT, Seth Rogen has stated that it was also intended as a "backdoor pilot", meaning if it proves popular, Disney might greenlight a full season.

Joy!

It seems that it has indeed proven popular. Every write up I find on the web is praising it (except for one review on a conservative blog that was angry about a single "adult" joke) and it seems to have attracted a lot of eyeballs. So.. good sign? We can hope!

While you can't watch the full episode without paying, some people have uploaded a few clips from the show so I thought I'd share those here. Enjoy!

EDIT: Scratch that. Evidently the person who uploaded those clips has set them to not be displayable on other websites. Too bad. Oh well. There are a dozen or so. Go to this channel to watch them. Trust me, they are worth the watch. Especially the show finale, which uses a classic song.

My only complaint is Maya Rudolph. But I've never liked her, so that could just be me. The rest of the clips are all great though. Enjoy!

oh, that is too bad it is not a regular series. I thought the way you presented it, it would be too. I had seen a couple commercials about it, but didn't pay much attention. Thinking about watching it now if you think it is worth it.

Yeah I thought so too. But hopefully Disney greenlights a series. The special seems to have done very well.

I didn't get a chance to watch this, but I saw some of the commercials after I read your review and I could totally see what you were talking about with the revival. It seemed to lean into the old style and the old jokes. It might be something I have to circle back to one day.

I wish I could watch it easily. Seems a waste to subscribe to disney+ just to see one episode. Maybe if they pick it up for a season, I'll subscribe.

I subscribe to Disney+ anyway for Marvel and Star Wars stuff. Plus the Hulu side of things.

Ok, that was a kind of testing to know the popularity of the Muppet

I saw it and was pleasantly surprised. It was the good old Muppet Show of old. No new tech, no spin, just good old fun of the old days. I hope they keep producing it, it's wonderful entertainment!

I watched it today and it had some of the old magic. I used to watch it many years ago and those were different times. I only just noticed that Disney+ have a load of those shows from the 70s. I've not heard of a lot of the guests. I may watch some.
