As a newer player I am thankful for the option of the $1 packs, it has made it pretty easy to get a collection of CA Modern cards started. I can see the negative view on them as it has likely driven down card prices and also kept the buy-up of other packs lower, it will be interesting to see what happens to the market over time or if they close the Starter Pack sale at some point.

The foundation cards are also meant as Modern only. An announcement was put out that stated they were meant only for Modern and those botting with them in wilds would see potential consequences.
