ON ROUTINE CHECKS

in Hive Learners2 days ago

The last time that I visited any clinic or hospital for a check was when I went to the opticians office to get my eyes checked and be prescribed new glasses. The time before that, it was also to get my eyes checked. And so was the time before.

The truth is, I haven't been to the hospital in so long to run any checks. Heck, I can not recall ever even visiting any clinic to get checked when it wasn’tfor my eyes. I boast about not having to fall ill or falling ill once in years and doing very little to nothing to get back in health. It's unfortunate and typical of us, the people in this part of the world, to not run health checks but wait until we don't feel so well before we go on to treat ourselves for 'malaria.'

Oh, I remember! I went for this check sometime back. Say, two years ago. Truth be told, I hadn't gone of my own will. It was part of our medical clearance for school, and it was required before I could get cleared as a student of the institute. So, you see?
And, I was glad that I had gone. Prior, I didn't even know my blood group and genotype(there's no shame in admitting, yeah). I just did the math based on the health details of my parents, and it was cool. Going for the general check put an end to my presumption, making me certain. Plus, I got to learn other little details of my body, which I know well of now..

Being one in the health field and knowing how simple yet complex the human body is and how things could switch up really quick, you’d think I was more conscious. Well, I am. I just did not do checks. Since I take care of my body and health as best as I can, I didn't bother.

However, with growing older and coming to the realization(learning and seeing) how our bodies could be receptive to illnesses and could house them for long and only show symptoms when it's become deteriorated, I've become a lot more attentive. Plus, being female and a young person whose body is constantly undergoing changes and development, it makes it all even more necessary that I am in tune with my system.

And so, i added to my to-do and self-care list, going for a general body checkup, and I plan to stick to that. It would be a full, general body screening. In addition to that, I plan to visit a dentist to get my mouth cleaned and do some scaling and polishing as well as check for holes and everything in between. Too, my glasses would be due for changing sometime soon, so I would be going to get a work-up of my eyes. So yeah, everything-everything.

I don't know when, and that's not nice, but I presume it should be on or before the first half of the year. It becomes a habit(or new normal) going forward as i do realize that it is a necessity. So, yeah, that!

Thanks for gracing this post.
Greetings!

You should go for that check-up soon. It's a necessity. If not for anything but to be certain about your body health.

I should, and I will.
Thank you
