Ah man, time really does fly doesn't it? I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that my niece in this photo is now a grown adult with a baby of her own. Life is crazy isn't it? As I promised in my post on Wednesday, I am making this Friday Finance post a bit of a goals post. I know a lot of people have already covered their goals for the year, so I am just a little behind the curve.
Before looking forward, I think it is important to look back first.
With that in mind, I wanted to share my HIVE Recap using the tool created by @hivecreators. It's actually a pretty cool tool. Things seem really polished and I have little doubt they will be adding things to it before I need to use it again next year. I think it would be cool if you picked the things it displays.
As it is right now though, I still think it is pretty cool, so don't think I am complaining. When you look at the first number, it doesn't appear as though I powered much up this year, but when you look at the claimed HP, it makes a bit more sense. While I like participating in HPUD each month, if you are regularly posting and collecting your rewards, every day is pretty much HPUD for you.
You might notice I have zero staked HBD this year. That's because I have a nice bit of HBD in savings already and it generates a nice 100 HBD per month for me. The rest of my HBD I have been moving into HIVE waiting for the right time to move it back into HBD (HIVE > $1).
267 written posts, 11,000+ comments, it's definitely been a good year for me. Feel free to visit the site and get your own stats. Also, don't skip the part at the bottom where they ask you to donate a few HIVE for their hard work!
It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the community.
The Goal
As far as goals are concerned. If you look at my main account, I think it is pretty obvious where I want to take that. 100K HP staked is a goal that has been on my radar for a while now. I was hoping to hit it by the end 2024 and honestly, if I wasn't holding that HIVE liquid, I would have come a lot closer to hitting it. As it stands, I will have to carry over that goal into 2025.
In fact, I'm going to take it one step further and give myself a goal of 125K staked HIVE by the end of 2025. Is that a moon shot or am I going way too easy on myself? Only time will tell.
As for my @bozz.sports account, my goal for 2025 is to hit 10K staked HIVE. It's only recently that I have started to actively power up this account. In the past I would simply send the HBD I earned to my main account, but I really enjoy posting about sports, so I want to grow that account into "something more".
As far as altcoins go... I'm not going to set any goals for those. Being the base token of the chain, I should have given HIVE more respect than I have in the past. I've funneled too much of my hard earned tokens into side projects that didn't amount to anything over the years. It's time to renew my focus on HIVE.
With a few minor exceptions of course! Anything by the BRO community is gold in my book. I'm also still a midsized Splinterlands holder, so I will keep playing that, and I am really excited about what @holozing has to offer.
As usual, I have no plans to power down my stake in 2025. The only exception would be if HIVE blows past $1 and I choose to power down some HIVE and move it into HBD with the goal of moving it back into HIVE when the bear market returns.
The Dog House
If you ever get a chance, check out @steevc's Follow Friday posts. He has a section called The Dog House and while he doesn't always highlight someone or something in there, occasionally he does. The other day I got an alert from F.R.I.D.A.Y - Developed by @deathwing and @rishi556 that I was mentioned in this post. Oddly enough, this same post was posted by @cryptoandcoffee several years ago!
Yes, this is one of those accounts you have likely heard about that are taking very old posts from other people and copy pasting them as their own. They didn't even bother to change the opening quote which references cryptoandcoffee, so it's blatantly obvious they plagiarized this.
I gave it a nice 100% downvote and nuked their rep from 25 to 12. It appears others have brought them down even further. If you have always wanted to use a downvote, but never had a reason, feel free to flex on this one.
People are likely always going to try and abuse the system. It's up to us to keep stuff like this from happening. Check out @livinguktaiwan's recent post for a bit more info.
One More Thing
I've also noticed recently the habit by some users of simply summarizing your original post in a comment to you. They don't add any new context, insight, or commentary, they just basically say the same thing you did in far fewer words and far less eloquently. I don't know if this is an AI thing or a translator thing or what, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't bug me a little.
Not a "you kids get off my lawn" kind of bug, but enough that it makes me a bit disappointed. If it's an issue because of Google Translate or something, then I apologize, but if it's just low effort:
Do Better.
If you are going to summarize what I just wrote, at least add a little something to it. That's what will prove to me you read it, not simply summarizing it.
I've been pretty open about the fact that I enjoy upvoting comments and I try to do it enough that it shows appreciation and is lucrative for those who comment. However, if you are going to just summarize what I just wrote:
