Wow, it's hard to believe that November is almost over. It feels like just the other day we were basking in the warm summer sun and now by this time next week Thanksgiving will be over and done. This will be my third crypto cycle and my perspective on this one is totally different.
In late 2017 I was very new to crypto, at $17,700 I was technically buying Bitcoin around the top. Crazy things were happening all over the place, but I really didn't understand what those things were or what they meant. I know there have been plenty of editorials discussing the fact that this bull run will be nothing like the one in 2017, but for me it feels really similar, although this time I am on a different side of it.
Instead of being on the outside looking in, I feel like I am smack dab in the middle of it, and I am loving it. The last bull run kind of passed over me. Yes, I took a few gains and was able to make some major life moves, but I didn't quite realize what was happening while I was in it. It's amazing how experience can change your perspective.
It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the community.
You'd have to be living under a rock to not notice the moves that BTC has been making this past week. It's been playing that delicate dance of "will it or won't it" with the $100,000 mark. Kind of like that couple that you "ship" on your favorite TV show.
I remember getting all wrapped up in the hype last cycle about $100K, but we never saw it. I think that was a big part of my problem last time, I was waiting for it so much, that I lost track of everything else around me. We've never been this close before. As of this moment, less than $1000 is standing in the way of that magical milestone mark.
Crazy Innit?
What if it comes and nothing happens? What if life just keeps on moving like it did when it was at $73,000? I think what is more likely to happen, is that it will quickly retrace back under that mark. By then the damage will already be done though right?
Gensler Out
We all knew this was coming, but it seems he is choosing to step down himself rather than being kicked out dragging and screaming. Perhaps he just doesn't want to give Trump the satisfaction, I think we all knew his time was over though. He announced the other day that on January 20th he will be stepping down from the SEC.
Let the good times roll!
CoinGecko Candies
I'm curious if anyone else has been a religious collector of "candies" in CoinGecko over the years? I remember at one point there was some kind of airdrop where if you had enough candies you could claim a token on some chain. I don't really remember the details and I was hoping someone here would point me in the right direction.
I remember I claimed the token, but I don't remember what it was called or what wallet it was in. I'm sure it is totally worthless now, but I just wanted to make sure my ducks were in a row before we enter alt season.
This might be a good time for you to take a quick inventory of all those little coins you have floating around here and there. You never know when one of them might pop for who knows what reason. Knowing ahead of time what you have and how to swap it into a stable could be the difference between big gains or just another token you hold that went to zero.
Grilling and Smoking Community
This isn't really finance related, but I just wanted to remind everyone about the new community I created here on HIVE dedicated to Grilling and Smoking. Whether you only do it on the weekend or in summers, or year round, there is something really primal about cooking on a grill.
It's a hobby that can turn into a passion very quickly and people can find themselves dedicating their lives to perfecting their techniques. Web 2.0 is very heavy with groups like this boasting hundreds of thousands of members from all across the globe. I wanted to bring something to our little corner of the web. I hope you have the time to dig into it (or even contribute), and share in this great community.
There are already three posts (including mine)!
Any Guesses?
So what do you think? Do we hit $100K by the end of the day or do things just keep bouncing around the high 90's for a while? I think barring some major crash or global event, we are probably going to see it sooner rather than later. Before 2025 is almost a certainty, but before the end of November... I'm not sure that is a bet I would want to take.
