Returing to Gods Unchained - Playing Food Chain Nature Deck

Greetings!

After not playing for a while, I finally returned to playing Gods Unchained for a short amount of time. Because I have not played this game, I went to GUDecks to see which decks were popular. Looking through GUDecks, I found this deck. It was not the cheapest that I could find, but it was also not the most expensive deck, so I rented some cards that I was missing and decided to play for a little while.

With this deck, I started from Midnight Shadow and went all the way to Solar Gold. I also rented some shine cards to increase the amounts of fragrant that I get while playing. 60% Winrate seems really strong for me.

Deck

This deck uses a lot of the new cards from Dread Rising, including the legendary 'That Which Feeds Us'. The old Food Chain decks are not powerful at the later games, after they used Food Chain Combo. That Which Feeds Us helps this deck at the endgame, if it does not get deleted by the opponent, where both players are almost out of cards.

Other Dread cards are for board wipes, which is going to help to stay alive until getting the combo cards.

Also there is a lot of variations if you find in GUDecks, and some of the other decks were using this card:

Seems expensive though!

Battle

For this battle we have Guild Deception as the opponent. Guild Deception can be tricky to face especially because they could share some of the win cons.

1~2 Mana

I skip the first turn, and they play Tooth Fae on the second turn, so I used GP. They went wide after clearing the board.

3 Mana

Still playing GP. Good news is that I was able to get combo pieces (Blade, Pack, Food) and I would be playing it at the next turn. They take out the Badger and it seems like they are strong in board control now.

4 Mana

I do the combo here. It is not the strongest 6 mana monsters, but I am able to clear out a 1/1. They trade with my monsters here with Unnatural Selection. However, they could've also went face with it which sounds like a better opinion.

5 Mana

I play Lootable Corpse and use That Which Feeds Us to clear the board. However, they had Crooked Quartermaster and then used Stoneskin on my That Which Feeds Us.

5.5 Mana

I went with GP and used Dread Deer to clear the board on the burning That Which Feeds Us.

6 Mana

They had a slow turn with GP, which enables me to find That Which Feeds Us by The Trial Begins. I still have another The Trial Begins and Path of Nature, so finding That Which Feeds Us wouldn't be a big problem.

6.5 Mana

I grab another The Trial Begins from the sanctum and GP + That Which Feeds Us to clear the board. They had another Crooked Quartermaster and used it on my That Which Feeds Us, and they also got the max value from Crooked Quartermaster by using 2 Guild Units.

7 Mana

Because they had mostly 1 mana units, Regression is a good Top-deck, making 3 of them all 0-1s. The 1 mana random unit draws them a card, though. I use GP and end the turn. They Trapdoor my burning and ordered That Which Feeds Us. It is very good because if I dreadtouch it, the ordered copy would be shuffled into my deck, which would be not really useful.

7.3 Mana

Luckily I top-deck another That Which Feeds Us, so I used GP to Dreadtouch it and cleared the board. They reduced the strength of my That Which Feeds Us and go wide on the board.

7.6 Mana

There is a lot of good options here for me. I go with GP and That which Feeds Us, and clear the board to use Pack stalk and Food Chain, which is just like a Gambit. Then I used Path of Nature, to try to find That Which Feeds Us, but I was unlucky and did not get it in the delve. So I got Dread Deer, which can be used to clear the board. They use Path of Deception and steals Regression from my Deck. However, I get lucky with it and get 2 decent 5 mana units. They try to steal the Backstabber which can have Deadly, but because it was summoned this turn, it could not attack which is good for me.

8 Mana

A lot of good options here. I go with GP and Dread Deer, and heals with Rune from the sanctum. Parthene Proscenium gives +3 strength to my weakest creature or Heals all friendly characters for 3. Both option is pretty decent, and I use the +3 strength buff to attack which brings them down to 15. They steal 2 card from my void and uses Crawling Madness to take down Parthene Proscenium.

8.25 Mana

Luckily I top-deck my Crawling Madness. After that, I used Path of Nature and got That Which Feeds Us. The refreshing Mana barely enables me to use The Trial Begins to find Cornered Howler. They cutthorat That Which Feeds Us away.

8.5 Mana

I got Unnatural Selection, that could be used as Win Con if I have That Which Feeds Us + another creature on board. I use Rune of Sight (forgetting that I have Trial Begins in my hand), and uses Trial Begins anyway for That Which Feeds Us, and plays GP and Jailbeast.

8.75 Mana

They play some creatures, but that Which Feeds Us and Unnatural Selection is enough to win. GG!

Outro

While editing this post, they nerfed That Which Feeds Us from 2/2 to 3/3 without Twin Strike. Other domains also got some nerf and it would be cool to see what happens with the balance patch.

Sort:

You have an excellent Food Chain deck. If your food chain combo fails you still have "That Which Feeds Us", a card that can win the match on its own just by going dreadtouch.

Yes. It is still a good card after nerf.
