Giving you things that are good for your health is what I’m popularly known of and that is why I bring to you some fantastic songs today.
I will only introduce to you an artiste. He’s late now but a legend that every Nigerian and African artiste remember all the time. He was known for always tackling the government. I was not born then but it shows that the government has never been good.
He lives in the heart of everyone till today for at least leaking the evil deeds of the government by singing with it.
Who am I introducing to you all today?
I’m introducing to you the Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti. A great and courageous man who had the courage to tackle the government all the time and he was able to sing some great songs. I’d give you three tunes as usual and I’m sure you’d love them. They will worth your time.
Yellow Fever
Have you ever met an African man or woman? We are naturally black but we have a few of us who are fair but not white. I think there was a time when people started to bleach their skin and it was causing cancer and a lot of skin diseases.
Also, a lot of people even became more ugly than they were. Fela Anikapo Kuti never liked women who bleached their skin. They seem fake to him and also says that they do not appreciate themselves enough or not proud of themselves. That’s that about what prompted him to sing Yellow Fever. Let’s move to the next song.
Unknown Soldier
Fela Anikulapo released this song when soldiers were maltreating the civilians anyhow. Have you seen cases whereby soldiers beat civilians for doing something little? It’s sad. Soldiers used to act like Lords then. They are still like that now but it has reduced because people are now learned and we have a voice. We can exercise our human right and that’s why that drama has reduced.
Nigerian soldiers are something else especially then so Fela made this song to tell us that soldiers were wicked and after releasing this song, they made him suffer for revealing their secret.
Let’s move on to the last one for today.
Waka Waka
This song is like a story. Fela explained that he has been to so many places in his entire life. He has been to many countries and see the way people live their lives over there. He has seen how favoritism has taken over the world that some people are happy and living wealthily while some people are finding it difficult to maintain a normal life.
It can be sad.
He also mentioned how some people turned religion to business and act as pastors or Imams while they are not.
He mostly sang in Pidgin which is the Nigerian version of English language.
You are surely going to get the message in the song if you listen well to it.
I hope you enjoy these three tunes and I hope to see you next week.
