We’ve found ourselves in an economy and world where the only way people think you have money is by the material things they see with you. It could be your phone, a car, the kind of jewelry you wear and so much more.
Well, some of those things may seem like an investment and some of them may not.
Three days ago, a friend texted me that she has saved up a whooping sum of five million Naira which she has been trying to gather since four years now.
“So, what’s the plan? What will you use the money for?” I asked but I was surprised by the response I got from her.
A car? Would you believe that this is what my friend said she wants to use the money for? How will it take you over four years for you to save up an amount of money and all you could ever think of buying is a car? I was shocked by her response because I know she’s not buying the car for the purpose of uber or a way to make money. She’s definitely buying it because she wants people to think or know that she’s rich.
The funny thing is that these days, when I see young guys with cars, I don’t get freaked. I’ve seen situations where some people buy cars and they sleep in their cars because they have used all the money they have to buy cars and there is no more money to rent an apartment. Does that even make sense?
Then, I gave her the idea of running a delivery business. With that amount of money, she can buy three good bikes that will be suitable for delivery business.
That’s what I told her but I don’t know if she will take my advice or not. Not so many people will be able to save up that whooping sum of money and apart from the fact that she’s hardworking, she’s just being lucky and that’s all I know.
If you are in her shoes, what will you do? And if you will venture into a business, what kind of business would you venture into?
I’d love to know in the comment sectionso I can share all of your ideas with her.
Happy weekend and have a great one.
