After a few moments of observing the leaves and wildflowers, my eyes fell on a small, brightly colored insect flying from one flower to another. This insect turns out to be a member of the Asarkina genus, a type of hoverfly known for its ability to imitate the appearance of bees to avoid predators.
This Asarkina insect looks busy sucking nectar from small flowers that grow on the edge of the garden. Its striking body color, a combination of black and yellow, makes it stand out among the green leaves. I carefully approached and prepared a macro lens to capture the moment.
What's interesting about the Asarkina genus is their stable flight and their ability to hover in the air, much like natural mini drones. They are often seen around flowers, playing an important role in pollination, although they are not as popular as bees or butterflies. Their presence in the environment around us shows how diverse insects are and help keep the ecosystem in balance.
