There are many projects in the crypto space that have not reached completion state because of a lack of blockchain integration engineers. Some ideas are very good and the people with those ideas are finding it hard to implement the ideas because this technology is pretty new and there are not enough blockchain integration engineers. Some blockchains like Hive are very tough to get started because of poor documentation. Despite all that, some people are successful in being blockchain integration engineers.
There are pros and cons in picking up a role in the crypto space and at the same time, the role will also be highly demanding. A normal developer can gain the skillset and become a blockchain integration engineer. This role is for people who would like to implement their idea in the blockchain with a real-world use case.
Highly paid job
I have seen this to be one of the highly-paid jobs in the crypto space. There are several factors associated with this high payment. We cannot be just happy that the pay is very high. There is also a small problem where the company should also be generating consistent income to pay this high amount. The demand is heavy and that's one of the primary reasons why this role is a highly paying role.
People who have a corpus fund and would like to invest in the crypto space pick up this idea and they look for blockchain integration engineers. This is a hot role because the future is going to be more in the blockchain and the crypto world and having the knowledge to do integration on a blockchain is a great thing and these projects can also be done as a contract job.
No job security
The biggest disadvantage of this role is that companies who hire blockchain integration engineers are mostly start up companies and that's one of the primary reason to not have job security. People shouldn't quit their MNC jobs to join a startup and start writing integration software or codes. The salary might be an attractive one but imagine not getting that salary after a few months. There is a high risk because the company can suddenly decide not to continue with the project. People might find it hard to pick another job and work after that. The expectation will also be heavy.
Highly demanding work
As I said this will be a job in a start up so not only there is a demand for this role in the market but even after joining the company would try to extract lots of work from the individual. Since it is a start-up, they may not have individual resources doing different tasks. Sometimes an IC role will have to take care of project management, team management client handling, etc. This is very common in a start-up company.
In products that are new to the market, the funding can be very low and during the initial days of the product, the efforts will be very high and the work will also be very challenging. Sometimes there will be no seniors to help out and if the issue is related to some security thing, then it will be business critical.
