A few weeks ago, a friend suggested I watch the American movie “Don’t Look Up”, and at first, I thought it was going to a comedy film. But after sitting down and watching it, I realized it was much more than just laughs. It felt like the movie was trying to send a strong message about the society we live in today.
The story is about two scientists who discover a comet that will destroy the Earth. Instead of everyone paying attention, they face a society too busy with politics, money, and social media trends. Honestly, while watching it, I was lost in my thoughts: Is this not how our world really behaves sometimes?
What I liked most about this movie is how it mixes humor with reality. One scene that struck me was when the scientists were trying to warn the public, but the media only cared about turning it into entertainment. It reminded me of how in real life, serious issues like climate change or poverty often get ignored because people are chasing gossip or fame all around.
For me, the lesson was clear: we must learn to pay attention to the truth, even if it is uncomfortable. Sometimes, society is so distracted that we don’t act until it is too late.
Another part that touched me was the ending dinner scene. Instead of fighting, the characters came together as family and friends, sharing love in their last moments. That made me think deeply about what really matters in life. Fame, money, or social media likes will not save us. What stays are the people around us and how we treat them, how we love and cherish them.
I believe "Don’t Look Up" is not just a movie it is a reflection of our world. It made me ask myself how I spend my own time and if I sometimes ignore important things because of distractions and in which we are in the world distraction.
If you are someone who likes movies that entertain but also teach, this one is worth watching. It is funny, emotional, and at the same time, an eye-opener to the fact about society, leadership, and human behavior.
Watching it about the story; it was like holding a mirror to our world today. And honestly, I feel we all need that kind of reminder sometimes.
