Every time I visit a city, observation decks seem to be a must-see attraction. However, I had no memory of visiting one during my trip to New York—until recently, when chatting with a friend who was with me at the time, I realized we had actually gone to the Empire State Building to take in the panoramic views of the city. It was like my lost memories were suddenly revived, and I felt it deserved to be documented in a blog.
The Empire State Building is located on Fifth Avenue in New York and is easily accessible by multiple subway lines. We took the subway to Grand Central Terminal and then walked about 10 minutes to reach the entrance.
The tickets to the Empire State Building aren’t cheap, but you can save some money by purchasing a New York Pass, which bundles admission to multiple attractions. Standing at 1,250 feet (380 meters), the Empire State Building offers stunning views of New York City. The high-speed elevator ride to the top was an experience in itself—those lavishly decorated elevator interiors were truly something else!
I’ve heard the night views from the Empire State Building are breathtaking, but we visited during the day. The weather wasn’t great that day, and since I was obsessed with using a wide-angle lens attachment on my phone back then, my photos ended up slightly distorted. Despite the slightly blurry pictures, the daytime views of New York’s skyline were still magnificent.
We also passed by Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue during our walk. Strangely enough, the "Trump Tower" sign in the photo I took turned out completely black—no idea why! Later on, I even found myself near 40 Wall Street, where the Trump Building is located, while job hunting. And now, I’ve bought TRUMP memecoin and ended up stuck with it. Seems like Trump and I have some sort of odd connection.
Fifth Avenue is more than just luxury shopping—it’s home to many iconic landmarks, including the New York Public Library, Rockefeller Center, Trump Tower, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and Central Park. And of course, you can’t miss the Empire State Building for its incredible views of the entire city.
