RE: How do you stay motivated?

in #tribes12 days ago (edited)

What motivated me to begin contributing to the Hive blockchains, @liotes, was the opportunity to interact with others all over our shrinking planet. What I have found is the degree to which this social experiment pays people to interact with others has a direct bearing on whether or not that will actually take place. And, if it does, whether or not we can consider it to be genuine.

Of course that is the purpose, as I understand it, of the Hive blockchain. Like anything else in life, until we experience something ourselves, we probably don't fully understand it.

"How do you stay motivated?"

Great question, although it appears this is being asked of your long-term followers.

Whether I ever achieve becoming a long-term contributor to Hive will be primarily dependent upon how successfully I satisfy my primary motivation. Along the way, at the end of my first month, I will be challenged by the necessary time commitment and the degree to which I can keep getting paid and interacting with others completely separate. The jury is still out for me as to whether or not combining these two big motivators of human behavior was a good idea.

I remember when I started out and was wondering whether it was all worth it to spend so much time for a relatively modest income. I have never regretted it because in the long time, it's not the financial aspect that brings the most satisfaction I believe...

This is what has made the most sense to me, as well, @achim03. The financial aspect is unavoidable, nonetheless, as that is the foundation on which this blockchain was built. It is a work-in-progress for me to decide whether I can justify the time and effort to even a pretense of working around this.
