This one was very short, but it felt like a whole week.

I could get used to make weekend getaways every other weekend... ore even weekend yes - weekend also! This time I escaped to a very familiar location, but just as a base to a day visit to a hiking trail I have been wanting to visit for months! But everytime I planned to go, the weather was utter crap. And not just rainy: thunderstorms, the biggest snowstorm of the season, etc, etc. Finally, the stars aligned!

Of course, this was also the chance to revisit and show a friend all the natural wonders that exist in this part of the country. Quiet rivers, clear water, and great swimming locations when the water is less freezing cold. And with the added bonus that in Spring, everything is in full bloom around here.

Especially brooms, that seemed to be even more everpresent this time, a bright yellow colour and a wonderful scent everywhere. Some were still blooming, truth be told; but I would say 99% of them were already done.

This time, I was even lucky with the wildlife! I saw my first hedgehog here on the night I arrived, and on the second night a huge fox standing beneath a lamp posed for me for a while, just in the outskirts of the village. No photos of those beauties, unfortunately... but Ms. spiny toad wasn't quick enough to escape my camera!

It's hard to see by the photos, but this was one of the big ones! Females are usually bigger than males, hence calling this one Ms.
So between wildlife encounters, a new hiking trail, and a visit to the nearby spa, this was time very well spend. A bit tiring, for sure, but if I could choose, I would do it again next weekend; after all, life is to be enjoyed, and nature + friends is a great way to do it!
