Continuing with my journey in the Old city of Bern of which I made a Part 1 post 2 days ago. I must say that this place is very unique. The street has a bus access but for other vehicles there are only parts of the road that are accessible, else the whole street is open to walk around freely that's the beauty of this place, the cobbled street does take you back in time and makes you feel like you are wandering in some place in the 18th century.
The Zytglogge Clock Tower is also a unique one to check out in this place, it's a astronomical calendar clock and has musical chimes in it which can be heard till far off in the city, every hour the chimes have a different sound. There are mechanical figures which pop out every hour and makes different types of movements. It reminds me of the clock tower in Messina, which is almost similar and better mechanisms then this one. The Messina one is a very fancy one then this one, but this is no less. This clock was built in the 13th century and since then has been in several uses, like it has been the Guarding Tower of the city, a Prison, a Fire observation Tower and now a Clock Tower and tourists delight.
I love these colorful streets
Such a delight to see these beautiful decors on the street.
Variety of Cheese and Olives
Happy Me in this place
We also visited the Rose Garden and the Bear Park, all of this was easily accessible by Bus which was available right from outside the Bern Metro station. But this Fountain street is to be best explored by foot as bus will not do the justice. For anyone who has long distance walking issues can go by foot one way and return take a bus back to the Metro.
Hope you all enjoyed this old city of Bern. It does definitely take us back in time.
