Good evening, dear and esteemed friends of Buskeria, today I'm going to share the story I've written about Nina. She's an aspiring guitarist with big dreams of reaching for the stars. Buenas noches queridos y estimados amigos de Buskeria, hoy les voy a compartir el relato que he escrito sobre Nina. Ella es una aspirante a guitarrista con grandes deseos de llegar a las estrellas. Verán lo que hace para conseguirlo, que no necesariamente será lo mejor. Espero que les guste, entonces ya podemos comenzar. Que la disfruten.

Nina started playing the guitar at a very young age, thanks to a gift from her grandfather for getting good grades in school. He was a guitarist himself and noticed that she was always fascinated by guitars whenever she visited his house, so he thought it would be a good idea to give her one. That gift was the beginning of her great adventure. Every afternoon after school, she would go to her grandfather's house so he could teach her to play. The guitar was bigger than she was, but she still carried it in its case on her back. She was very eager to learn and to make good use of her gift. Her grandfather taught her everything he knew and shared his personal techniques with her.

But Nina showed her grandfather one thing from the very beginning: she learned at a rather slow pace, and her skills were limited. He never said anything because he thought that in the future, when she was older, she would learn faster. In a way, that was true, but she always progressed slowly with her learning. The important thing, however, was that she was learning and improving, and that's what mattered at the time.

Nina comenzó a tocar guitarra siendo muy joven, y eso fue gracias que como regalo por haber sacado altas notas en la escuela su abuelo le regaló una. El era guitarrista también y vio que ella cada vez que iba a su casa le gustaban mucho las guitarras, por esa razón le pareció buena idea regalarle una. Ese regalo fue el comienzo de su gran aventura. Todos los días por la tarde al salir de la escuela ella iba para casa del abuelo para que el la enseñara a tocar. La guitarra era más grande que ella pero igual la llevaba en la maleta en la espalda. Tenía mucho interés de aprender y de darle uso a su regalo. El abuelo le enseño todo lo que sabía y sus técnicas personales.

Pero Nina desde un comienzo le demostró una cosa al abuelo. Y es que aprendía a un ritmo bastante lento y sus habilidades era escasas. El nunca le dijo nada porque pensaba que en el futuro cuando fuera mayor aprendería más rápido. De cierta forma eso fue cierto, pero ella siempre iba despacio con el aprendizaje. Pero lo bueno era que estaba aprendiendo y mejorando y eso era lo importante en ese momento.

When she was older and playing the guitar became serious, she set a goal for herself: she wanted to be part of a band, but not just any ordinary, low-profile band—a successful one. The truth is, this dream wasn't far-fetched at all, since she lived in Buskeria, where there were many successful bands. Being part of one was a real possibility; all it took was dedication and skill. Nina had plenty of dedication, as she wanted it very much. Now her problem lay in her skills. The problem her grandfather had noticed years earlier still lingered; her skills were improving, but slowly, perhaps a little slower than she had hoped.

The point is, Nina wanted to join a band and fulfill her dream of becoming a recognized guitarist as soon as possible. She had been practicing for a long time, and although she acknowledged that she still had much to learn, she thought that being in a band would allow her to continue improving. Nobody knows everything before starting a job; life is a constant learning process, and this wouldn't be any different.

Cuando ya era más grande y la guitarra se volvió algo serio, ella se puso una meta, quería ser parte de una banda, pero no una de esas normales y de bajo perfil, una de las exitosas. La verdad es que ese sueño no era descabellado en lo absoluto pues vivía en Buskeria donde hay muchas bandas exitosas, ser parte de una era una posibilidad, solo hacía falta entrega y habilidades. Entrega le sobraba a Nina, pues lo deseaba mucho. Ahora su problema estaba en las habilidades. El problema que había detectado su abuelo años antes aún lo cargaba encima, sus habilidades avanzaban pero despacio, quizás un poco más lento de lo que ella esperaba.

La cuestión es que Nina quería formar parte de una banda y cumplir su sueño de ser una guitarrista reconocida lo antes posible. Ya llevaba mucho tiempo practicando y aunque reconocía que aún le faltaba mucho por aprender pensaba que luego de estar en una banda podría seguir mejorando. Nadie lo sabía todo antes de trabajar, la vida es de aprendizaje constante, esto no sería diferente.

She was right about one thing: life is about learning all the time, and you don't have to know everything to do something, but that doesn't always apply. And she would have to learn that the hard way. It turned out that a professional band announced they were looking for a guitarist because their last one had left. This band was a dream come true for her; they were already stars, and if she joined them, she could be a star too without going through the long process of being in a smaller band. But the band had requirements for joining. In addition to being responsible and dedicated, she had to have advanced skills. Since the band was already famous, they couldn't afford to hire a novice.

For that reason, "You don't have to know everything to join a band" didn't apply here. Because it was made clear that they were looking for someone already accomplished, not someone still learning. Nina's desire to be part of the band and become a star quickly blinded her and prevented her from seeing what she was doing; she was getting herself into a lot of trouble.

Tenía razón en una cosa, la vida es para aprender todo el tiempo y no hay que saberlo todo para hacer algo, pero eso no siempre aplica. Y lo tendría que aprender por las malas. Resulta que una banda profesional anunció que buscaba a una guitarrista ya que el ultimo que tenían se fue. Esta banda era el sueño hecho realidad para ella, ya eran estrellas y si se unía a ellos podría ser una estrella también sin pasar por el largo proceso de formar parte de una banda más pequeña. Pero la banda pedía requisitos para poder unirse. Además de ser una persona responsable y tener entrega había que tener habilidades altas. Dado que la banda era una estrella no se podían permitir contratar a novatos.

Por esa razón “No hay que saberlo todo para poder unirse a una banda” no aplica aquí. Porque se aclaraba que buscaban a alguien ya formado, no en proceso de formación. Los deseos de Nina de ser parte de ella y llegar a ser una estrella de forma acelerada la cegaron y no le hicieron abrir los ojos de lo que estaba haciendo, se estaba metiendo en un gran lio.

The band trusted her word and accepted her, even though she had no experience with other groups. She assured them she had what it took. During rehearsals after she joined, she demonstrated some talent, which she already possessed, so the band became overconfident and believed everything she said. Nina thought she had already won the battle; she was in, she had achieved what she wanted. But everything fell apart very quickly when, some time later, they had their first big concert together. She wasn't used to playing in front of an audience. So she froze and also revealed her lack of skill, embarrassing the group and herself for lying.

As expected, she was kicked out of the band and given a harsh lesson. She had to learn the hard way that you must prepare yourself well before pursuing a dream that's too ambitious, if you don't want it to turn into a nightmare. The band wasn't cruel to her; after letting her go, they told her to prepare herself properly and to come back when she was truly ready. The doors were still open, but she shouldn't try to close them again. Everything has its time; don't rush things.

La banda confió en su palabra y la aceptaron, aunque no tenía experiencia con otros grupos ella confirmó que tenía lo que se pedía. En los ensayos luego de aceptarla ella demostró cierto talento, el que ya tenía, así que la banda se confió demasiado y pensó que era cierto todo lo que decía. Nina ya daba por ganaba da la batalla, estaba dentro, había ganado lo que queria. Pero todo explotó muy rápido cuando un tiempo después fue el primer gran concierto juntos. Ella no estaba acostumbrada a tocar en publico. Así que se bloqueó y además demostró su falta de habilidad, dejando en ridículo al grupo y a ella misma por mentir.

Como era de esperar fue sacada del grupo y fue corregida. Tuvo que aprender por las malas que debes prepararte bien antes de seguir un sueño demasiado alto, eso si no quieres que se convierta en una pesadilla. La banda no fue despiadada con ella, luego de sacarla le dijeron que se preparara bien, y que regresara cuando estuviera lista de verdad, las puertas seguían abiertas, pero que no intentara cerrarlas de nuevo. Todo tiene su tiempo, no aceleres las cosas.
