I made some impulse buys after getting a new scanner and picked up several batches of slides a while back from Goodwill and eBay. These pictures span from as early as the late 1940s to as late as the early 1990s. There are thousands of these slides. I will be scanning some from time to time and posting them here mainly because I find them an interesting way to look back at the past.
I don't know a whole lot about the ultimate origins of this batch of slides other than they came from Goodwill. Like previous batches, these too often have a date stamped on them that I assume indicates when the film was developed and I believe in most cases should give approximate dating for the photograph itself. So far these seem like mostly vacation photos that were taken in the 1960s and 1970s. I've identified places in Italy, France, Mexico, and Hawaii so far.
All of the photos in this set were processed in August 1970. The majority of the photos with that date have been from Italy. However, a few have been from France as I believe at least one of the below photos is.
The first photo shows a statue but for some reason the slide has "time out" written on it. No idea why.
The second photo looks like the outdoor portion of a restaurant or café, probably in Florence but could be elsewhere in Italy. The individual in the photo have shown up in previous sets so I assume they are related to or at least known by the photographer.
The third photo shows a hotel with what are probably other hotels under construction in the distance. I would assume this was taken somewhere in Italy but it could also be France.
The last photo is the one I am pretty sure was taken in France. There is a sign that refers to The Medieval City. This refers to Carcassonne which is in southern France.
