The country where I live, Catholicism is the religion with the largest number of followers. However, according to data from Census 21 (national statistics), there are around 600 religions in Portugal, including more than 400 evangelical churches.

A curious statistic reveals that 1.2 million Portuguese people have no religion, out of a population of just under 10 million.

To speak of Catholicism is to speak of Fátima, the city that became known for the miracle of the apparition of the Virgin Mary to three young shepherds in 1917. Thousands of people flock to Fátima every year to worship, many fulfilling promises made as a result of their faith.

The Sanctuary of Fátima is a colossus. Four popes have visited here between 1967 and 2023. May and October are the months most visited by pilgrims who come from all over the world.
