First off, thank you for your kind compliment, and I'm glad you found some value in my post. Your situation with your former friend got me to wondering if you saw any of this coming from her, or was it a complete shock to the system?

The web3 part reminded me of when I first learned about Bitcoin back in 2009, and spread the word about the blockchain being the future, causing people to back away from me thinking that crypto was somehow counterfeit currency!

Small minds, who can't see the far horizon, and imagine the possibilities that lay just beyond.

The ultimatium from her surprised me, as I could think of far more important things with which to rend a friendship over. But I think you made the right choice, and can continue being your authentic self.

It was coming for awhile. We had fought a few times like normal friends over the years. Anything politics based or related to mental health were where we didn’t see eye to eye but neither of us actively went out to touch either topic.

What really started this chain was me leaving Twitch (streaming platform) and experimenting with Trovo, Rumble and Vimm, all of which were red flags for various different reasons.

Rumble has many Alt Right political activists on the front page due to its lax rules towards censorship but in the past few months has been actively working towards drawing in games, art and less politics based content. The tech is also very cool and they recently dropped some major quality of life features that most platforms don’t currently have.

Trovo is ran by Tencent and has a large Russian community despite being global and having a pretty rich and varied community (ala Twitch like).

Vimm is the Hive native streaming platform. Web 3 is associated with criminal enterprises and alternative organizations (to much of the common man). Simple enough.

Anyone from any of these platforms would be “evil” and “crazy” were her terms and all I had to do was leave them; all would be forgiven. I had never seen that side of her and her full concern was related to being associated with me being dangerous for her social presence.

The final straw was a random satire about contraception (which was not smart on my part at all; I deserved anger about that).

I listen to the No Agenda Show podcast, and it's interesting how people around me infer certain things just because of that.

However, I listen, watch, and read from a lot of different sources. I can be on "Huffpo" one minute, and watching Tucker on "X" the next. I hate censorship, and I don't like people telling me what I CAN'T watch, listen to, or read.

I don't share my politics on Hive (hardly at all), as I want there to be at least one place where I can post without the rancor I saw on Twitter.

We're more alike than we are different, and we all want to thrive and prosper.

I live in a city (and suburbs) that is Bernie Country. However, once you get into the exurbs and the rural areas, you're into pure Trump Country, with signs and flags EVERYWHERE.

The city people think that everyone in the county is just like them politics-wise, and the people in the exurbs think everyone is conservative like them, and are shocked when they come into town and see just how far left it is.

Some people can't see the forest for the trees...

We're all living in our own personal bubbles and need to break out for some fresh perspective.

What I consume information-wise, doesn't define me. As you can't learn if you don't listen.
