Hey everyone,
I don't know what it is about being sick, but I always end up tinkering with my desktop. I guess I find "ricing" to be a strange kind of comfort.

Even though I'm still not feeling great, I did manage to get a few productive things done while I was sick but could sit at the computer.
Qtile Widget Upgrades
I spent some time making additions and improvements to my qtile_widgets collection.
First, I fixed an annoying issue where my NowPlaying widget would throw an error and crash if my sxm server it pulls from wasn't running. Now it fails gracefully and just displays nothing.
Second, I upgraded my crypto tickers. They now show the 24-hour price change and are color-coded: green for up, red for down, and white for no change. It makes it much easier to see the market at a glance.

Finally, I added a new widget to check for Hive notifications using my hive-nectar library. It shows a bell icon (🔔) with a count of new messages and switches to a checkmark (✓) when I'm all caught up.

Debian Sid Always Has Bugs
Living on the bleeding edge with Debian Sid means you're going to get cut sometimes. This week, an update to the rofi launcher came through that was built without X11 support, which... makes it pretty useless for those of us running X11.

I fixed it by building a new .deb package from source using my create-deb-scripts.

If anyone else is running into this bug and can't build from source, let me know. I'll put the package somewhere you can download it.
My Health Update
On a personal note, I'm still not feeling well. I think it's time to make a doctor's appointment. The last time I felt like this, they mentioned checking my gallbladder, but I never went back. So, I think I need to bite the bullet and just go to make sure it's not something serious.
As always,
Michael Garcia a.k.a. TheCrazyGM
