The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle - Stuart Turton

The body swapping, restrictive rules, and steady reveal on how everyone is awful were great. I was proud that I figured out for myself that Daniel might be a rival, and there were little things that hinted Evelyn might not be who she appears, such as the comment on her being a plain girl.

The names were a lot to keep track of, particularly switching between first and last names, and names starting with the same letter (Drudge and Derby. And I think there was a Darcy).

I feel like the book was in a way commenting on how people could change and redeem themselves, but then also didn't really do that. Anna was given a chance to rehabilitate, and proved she can change but "Evelyn deserved to die"? I feel like there was a lot opportunity to leave an actual message about human nature.

Oh, and it reminded me of God the Woods. That cross-generational murder, and solving a current crime and historical crime at the same time.

May be a bit of an unpopular opinion but..

I thought this was just ok. It was quite confusing and hard to follow towards the end and the timing was really messing with me, which took me out of my immersion. I liked the start of this a lot but then began losing interest.

I do think it was quite cleverly written but the time jumping -Groundhog -Day also just isn’t my kinda jam so I recognise some biases here
I wanted more on the revelation about Anna, aidens sister, the plague guy. Some of the reveals were really interesting though, like with Evelyn herself and how events slotted together so well, after things happened in the past that aiden changed but overall I’m thinking kinda meh.
