I am forever grateful to the Universe for bringing this most precious person in to my life, my Son. No matter however old he gets but he is always going to be my little boy and I do tell him that, especially when he argues with me :-). Children grow up and get on to their own path of life, and that's the way of life, but there are some moments when we all come together and celebrate. For me his birthday is the most important day of the year. I make it a point to be with him on this day. We have a deal that even if he gets old and if I am still around, for his birthday, I will do the shopping for him and we will spend the day together. I am sure when he gets married things will change, but then as a mother I can never stop wishing for these little joys of life and moments with him.
No matter wherever I am, but during his birthday I make it a point that I am with him, and he too likes that. He will check with me a month in advance if I am going to be with him or not. This year as well, I travelled to Mumbai around his birthday time and celebrated his special day. We have some rituals for birthday, which I make sure it is done. My parents did it for me when I was young, and now I do it for my Son. It feels so different at times when from the receiving end you come to the giving end.
We did the rituals and then visited the Fire Temple during the day and then evening time we went for dinner at his choice of restaurant. Well the meal turned out to be a little disappointing as the price of each dish was sky rocketing and the food portion was ridiculously small. We ordered for 5 dishes and yet it did not feel fulfilling. Anyways he wanted to try out this new place so we settled with it. But at the end of it both of us were not very happy with the amount of money we spent and the food we had against it. Otherwise the day was very joyful and both of us had a good time. As promised he did spend the day with me.
This is the picture of the birthday ritual. It's like a good luck ceremony, done with an intention of bringing good luck, happiness and prosperity for the person. And he has become so much taller then me :-). Some times he comes and stands next to me and tells me, see I am taller then you, so I am your boss :-)

Overall a wonderful day spent with him, and we missed hubby being around. Because of his work, he could not travel. It's a different country so it's not easy.
