Astral Wars - Google Play Launch and upcoming Nexus System

Astral Wars is now officially live on Google Play!
Dive into the upcoming all-new Nexus Mode, which explores deep dialogues, and experience the latest features designed to level up your adventure.

Launching a new game is never easy, especially in a world filled with thousands of mobile titles competing for the same attention. But today marks a major milestone for us: Astral Wars is officially LIVE on Google Play. To be fair, it launched 4 days ago, and we are already at 118 installs.

This launch opens the door for players worldwide to jump in instantly, explore our unique take on TCGs (trading card games), and experience the beginning of what we aim to build into a long-lasting, content-rich universe. Alongside the launch, we’re introducing the upcoming Nexus System, a fresh way to interact with in-game characters, earn rewards, and engage with the Astral Wars world.

Nexus System- What is it?

Most games require detailed player interaction with in-game characters. But if the interactions are detailed, then the gameplay aspects of that particular game are not. This is not surprising as interaction systems often tend to be more complex than the games loop itself. There are seldom games that exhibit both strong gameplay and interaction systems.

Astral Wars and ALL of our games from here onwards will feature both strong gameplay and a strong interaction system with the characters in the game. Our interaction system is called the Nexus System.

As the above image shows, interactions with in-game characters are not just clear-cut decisions that are black and white, but will more often than not delve into psychoanalysis and empathy exercises. Some answers will net you more positive Affection points, which will result in unlocking rewards and quests. Affection points can be maxed out to a maximum of 100 for each character and a minimum score of 0. However, do not worry, none of the answers will result in negative Affection points.

There are 15 characters you can interact with, and currently we are looking at over 450 dialogues. For those who know us, we never do things in moderation.

Dialogue triggers are not always random, but are insertions at key points of progress. Finishing the tutorials, challenges, and progressing in exploration modes will always result in dialogues unlocks. For the early players you can look forward to having tons of dialogues unlocked.

Certain dialogues can be unlocked by using an Affection Tickets, which fill once a day.


Nexus System - Moods

This is an extremely important part of the game. A character can have one of these moods.
a) Favourable Affection - Warm, supportive affection marked by growing kindness and the first hints of jealousy.
b) Intense Affection - Passionate devotion that becomes overwhelming, emotional, and fiercely protective.
c) Obsessive Affection - Possessive fixation where affection turns controlling, jealous, and unstable.
d) Suppressive Affection - A dangerous form of love that becomes controlling and restrictive under the guise of protection.

The above is an example of dialogue with a character with Suppressive Affection.

Be extremely careful when talking to a character under Obsessive or Suppressive moods. While there is no risk of negative scores, you could end up losing a card.

Now, the roadmap is broken into weekly cells. This way, we will be able to get things done faster. Please note that there will be other project cells mixed into this, but I will not state them here.

Cell 1 - Fixing and optimising tutorials and uploading them on you tube, as well as connecting them with our overall post (1 week)

Cell 2 - Apply for game review and release the game into global beta **(Postponed due to performance issues on mobile) (Refer to Cell 41 for further info)

Cell 3 - Crates to be buyable with Crate Frags and Cards to be bought with Essences (1 week)

Cell 4 - Astranian and Numina cards to be completed and tested internally (1 week)

Cell 5 - Currency Exchange system (1 week)

Cell 6 - Chat system and in-game systems to be optimized for Mobile (1 week)

Cell 7 - Achievements and Badge System (1 week)

Cell 8 - Friends System Overhaul (1 week)

Cell 9 - Lands Quest system (2 weeks)

Cell 10 - In-game Items and promotions shop sales (1 week)

Cell 11 - New Alt art for certain cards (1 week)

Cell 13 - Troubleshooting certain issues of the game launch on certain processor models for mobile. (2 weeks)

Cell 21 - Dungeons Delving (1 week)

Cell 22 - Endless and Time Attack Modes (2 week)

Cell 23 - Battle and Level passes (1 week)

Cell 25 - Faction Battle Modes (2 week)

Cell 26 - Campaign mode (1 week)

Cell 27 - Base building and Autoplay (1 week)

Cell 28 - Rebuild the Marketplace with a new stack (1 week)

Cell 29 - Migrate the site and test the site (1 week)

Cell 30 - Fix Launcher Bugs (1 week)

Cell 31 - Apply and register for the launcher to not be flagged by anti viruses (1 week)

Cell 32 - Post for 2024 Review and 2025 Roadmap (5 weeks) (In Progress, delay due to data collection from parties)

Cell 33 - Exploration Mode (5 weeks)(+1 week for Art Correction) (5th week in progress)

Cell 34 - Fixing Launcher issues on windows 10 as reported by siberian13 (1 week)

Cell 35 - Prepare Game presentation for btc summit Dubai (4 weeks) (In progress) Cancelled

Cell 36 - Revamp Tech Debt code for currencies (1 week)

Cell 37 - Fix loading of collection of cards (1 week)

Cell 39 - Revamp Collection Panel UI (1 week)

Cell 40 - Adding Battery Curve during deck building

Cell 41 - Fixing all ANRs for Android devices and ensuring all of them run at 30 FPS. (3 Weeks)

Cell 42 - Wager PVP Mode (2 weeks)

Cell 43 - Animations for Mascot (3 weeks)

Cell 44 - Marketing Campaign with ads to be completed and deployed (3 weeks)

Cell 45 - Nexus System (3 weeks) (In Progress)

Cell 46 - Nexus System Testing and Release (December 8th)

Some of the cells will be worked on simultaneously, so do not be surprised if things get done faster. We spent the whole last year optimising, and we will just keep on doing so till we get there. Please also note that the execution of the cells will not be in order, but by priority and if there are any delays, it will be mentioned within the #roadmap channel in the discord here.

a) You can go to our website and download our Windows Launcher for PC or you can use the following link. You can then install and play the game through the launcher.
