How Far Can I Go With Jesus? SCRIPTURAL REASONING #03

in #hivechurch5 months ago (edited)

John 13:38 (KJV) Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.

“How far can I go with Jesus?” This is a question I must ask myself as I am professing my commitment in following Jesus. Making a decision is one thing, keeping to the decision despite all odds is another thing. How much can I give up for Jesus? How much am I willing to bear for Him? What is the weight of my love for Him? HOW FAR CAN I GO WITH JESUS?

There will be trials. There will be testing moments. Temptations will come. Mr flesh will react. The lust of the eyes will parade itself before us. The lust of the flesh will tickle us. The pride of life will roar from within us. When we will be faced with all these, will we still keep our hold on Jesus? What is it that will successfully diminish our love for Him?

Peter’s decision to lay down his life for Jesus was genuine. He wasn't camouflaging. He meant what he said. It was the confrontation of the enemy’s threat and fear that made him deny the Master. When he saw the cruelty of the Romans soldiers; when he saw how his master was treated his boldness and courage disappeared. And he denied the master.

Those times will certainly come when we will be faced with situations that our faith. Challenges of life will come frighteningly fast. Will I still be holding on to my belief at such times. Will you still be holding onto your belief in the face of daring challenges?

Romans 8:35-36 (KJV) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
