The level of online scam has become something else, it's a frustrating experience where you not only think of yourself but you also think of the people close to you.
I have experienced online scam like two times because it was infiltrated from someone I am in contact with, what I mean is I also have their contact with me.
One of the first online scam experiences I had was how my Facebook page was hacked few years back. A friend of mine chatted me up through Facebook, telling me to help her click on a said link for me to get extra airtime, and for her to upgrade hers as well.
At first I was a bit skeptical but she insisted and so I did, she told me a code will be sent to me and that I should send the code to her, after it has been sent to me, and so I did as I was told.
Not too long I was not able to log into my Facebook page, that was how I new I was hacked, the worst thing about all these hackers is that, they will start sending messages to your friends on Facebook or whatever platform, telling them about different ponzi schemes to Lott them of their hard earn money.
A lot of person's only think of online scammers, the ones that are carried out in your face is even more painful in a way. The community where I work, there is a large majority of Muslims who resides in it, they decided to give this man money to purchase their Rams and Cows for them, in preparation for their Eid, but to our surprise the man took all their money and ran away.
With the various experiences I have heard and the one I experienced first hand, I have made sure all my accounts is backed up by my email, that was how I was able to recover my Facebook account back.
My WhatsApp messenger is backed up by a two factor authentication number. I have decided not to click onto sites that are unknown to me or from a fraudulent source.
With all these scams everywhere,it is always best to call from the said friend when such link is send to you to verify. I heard of a case where the lady was scamed in tiktok by a user who has hacked her friend's account, she only realized to call the friend later on to verify when she was not able to log into her account again, and that mistake cost this individual her hard earn money.
In the case of this man that physically stole almost the whole villagers contribution money, I think is best to entrust your money to a registered broker or bank where u know the level of your funds being safe is 90%.
One other thing about failing victim into scam both physically and online, is greed. Let's all try to be realistic and be contented with what we already have, and try to build up our finances with hard work and consistency rather than to sit and waith for the doubling ponzi schemes that will take away everything in one go.
