The place I find comfort in is the sea. The reasons are not easy express but I will still try. Let's being from my childhood it was very chaotic, full of difficulties. As my father died earlier I was dealing with adult responsibilities from an early age on. Because I am the eldest son of the family. When I first saw the sea, I was in Cox's Bazar. My mother took me there to visit one of my cousin brother who just joined the army. As I walked towards the sea beach, I could hear that constant roar the sea makes every second of every minute, day and night.
When I walked to the shore of the sea the my feet was touching the water wave, it felt like my feet was moving towards the sea even though I was standing still and letting the water touch me. The time felt frozen and so did I. I felt mesmerized by the situation which I can not explain in words. The sea took a part of my heart at that moment and never gave it back. Till now I still yearn for the sea. I felt so relaxed in that time which is amazingly good. It breaks my heart that I have been staying away from it for a long time, I really want to be in that place again and feel the comfort which I can't find in the chaotic city.
I try to get to the sea once in a year but now that I have my own family and I have parents to take care of who can't easily be left alone, so we don't always go. It's been 3 years and we didn't visit the sea which makes my soul suffer. When I start talking about the sea I love everything about it the sound, the smell, the sand. I realized in these 3 years that what really draws me to the sea is standing in front of something that is more powerful than whatever in my life I am going through. It was something bigger than my personal waves and struggles which is really comforting and reassuring. It gives me one kind of dopamine which relaxes the muscles, it feels like that I am already in heaven.
It’s my secret place that makes me content no matter what, I am planning to visit Cox's Bazar again in 2026 with my whole family. I live in Dhaka now so we will have to take a flight, it will take 2-3 hours to reach there. But if we take bus it will take almost a day to reach there maybe, I don't remember the last time I was in a bus journey. As my parents are sick so we are planning for the plane tickets. I hope I can enjoy myself to the fullest. Life is so beautiful and I am grateful to be in this beautiful world. I am growing old and still the sea holds the special place in my heart.
I will ask people to find their own comfort place, it's not necessary that everyone will find the same place as comfort. People can have variety of comfort and they choose their own place, others can't suggest to make it their comfort place because in that way they will be not listening to their own heart. So, people should acknowledge it by their own, if they don't have any it means they find comfort staying inside the house which is pretty normal for introverts. But for me the only comfort is in the sea shore.
