My response to the @Indiaunited Contest - Theme: What Do you do, When you Need Motivation?
That's true that all the time we cannot be self motivated, there are times when we may be in our low moments, or that we may just be needing some boost to accomplish a task, or it can also be that we may lack clarity and because of that we will give up easily. In such times finding a motivation outside is important.
Personally, when I am looking for motivation, I talk to my son. He is a grown up boy, independent, filled with new energy and ideas and he always likes to see me achieve my goals and he is the best motivator I can have. He always talks with a lot of logic, so if I am in that give up mode, he will make me explain why it is important for me to do it, with a lot of logical explanation, which will convince me to move ahead or altar my thinking.
Hubby is also a good supporter but the young energy is dynamic and has a fresh perspective to everything, so my son is a better choice. He comes up with good suggestions for me, which sometimes makes it all look very easy. Moreover I always see that he explains to me in detail, the benefits of doing it and the disadvantages of not doing it. Talking to him is always a therapy for me.
Sometimes I even read motivational books but that does not always happen in the moment when it's required, it is in general that I do it. To bring a spark in the moment sometimes I also shift my environment, and this has also been very helpful to me. I love and enjoy nature, so I go to the beach or the mountains and spend a day and that helps me bring a shift in my perspective.
I have a habit of reflecting on my day every night when I go to sleep, so that is also the time which helps me visualize what's good for me and what's not, when I focus more on the good that helps me to move ahead with determination. I also think about the end outcome and that also motivates me. Just for e.g. if I want to lose weight, and I am not feeling very motivated to do it, then I think about the end result, which is that my health is going to be better, my physical appearance is going to be more appealing and all these benefits will motivate me to exercise, diet and lose weight.
It depends on the situation based on that I go through my support systems. It is not always the same thing that will bring motivation to me. It is about I should feel convinced to do what I have to do. And it is about what is the end gain for me, how luring it is, which will decide my level of motivation.
