Walking in the snow

in Photography Lovers7 days ago (edited)

Pine needles

More snow here in Vermont. Another walk in the lovely silence of fresh snowfall.

Coating

It is a bit warmer today but we are going on a week now of temperatures below freezing.

Road

The new snow does look nice.

Signs

All the lake cabins down this road have a sign on this tree. Most are summer cabins but a couple of people live full time along the lake.

Paper birch

Paper birch tree's bark peels making interesting textures and also catching a little snow this time of year.

Uphill

Continuing along our walk this hill is a bad one in the winter. The local town keeps sand on it but its treacherous even when walking.

Vast expanse

Did I mention it has been cold for awhile? 😅 🥶

Fishermen

First ice fishing hut out on the lake we have seen this year. Apparently the fish are hungry, they caught a nice looking Northern Pike while we were watching.

Mailboxes

Now the walk back. Its about 1.25 miles down to the lake. We try to walk it everyday even when its cold. Sometimes we have to skip a day if it is too icy but we try not to just let cold weather keep us inside.

Pine tree

Back home. Have a nice Saturday 🙂

Vermont6 is one of those states that I recommend to people looking for a wonderful place to move to. While I've never been there, I've heard nothing but good things from people who have, and absolutely trust what I hear from the people that I know.

I love the photo of the tree with the nameplates tacked onto it. It kinda reminds me of the signposts at the South Pole showing the distances to various cities across the globe. I may have to come back to this set in the sticky-hot summer months as an attempt to mentally cool down in the heat of the day.

Lovely walk to the lake.
Good you do go out each day, weather permitting. It is healthy.
I try to do the same 😁
Love the detail shots, the pine needles and the paper bark.
Cool to see the first ice fishing. 🎣
Have a wonderful Saturday

I liked the feeling of emptiness over the lake.

Thanks. The white snowcovered lake seems to go on and on.

Look at some very beautiful pictures my friend have a nice day 😘

Thanks 👍

Wow, that snow-covered lake looks very beautiful👍

Thanks the snow covered lake is a look unique to the North.

Always more beautiful in winter with snow. We've had quite a bit of snow here too, and with the cold it's likely to stay that way.
Lovely photos, especially the one of the signs with the colourful names of the cabins.
Have a great Sunday

!PIZZA

Thanks. I wish I had a cabin down that road haha

The only other place I've seen tree signs like that was up in the Wisconsin Northwoods. Same deal where people only have cabins they are rarely living in.

Same kinda place 👍 Some of these cabins are really old like 1930s. Not winterized. So only summer cabin for sure. Not crappy and run down just built in a different time. Almost like camping.

I did a decent amount of fishing in my day but never iced fished.

!PIZZA

I haven't either. I think the key is a bottle of Jack to keep you warm. It would be fun to try but I don't see myself sitting in a cold hut for hours on end.
