RE: Panning photography in a cold Berlin

Good stuff!

Actually I used to drive trams back in the late nineties, snow is totally the worst, especially at the onset...

If you f@*k up, locking the wheels, you can glide uncontrollably, even right before stopping, at walking speed.

Now, if that happens when people at the tram stop think you're closed to stationery, and you then slide another 10-20 meters... And if someone crossing the street right in front of you thinks the same due to everyone's reactions...

Or you might be going at high speed at at stretch where nothing normally happens, then you need to get the speed down, puts on too much breaking power, leading to going maybe even a hundred meters with no control other than your horn! (Once even that failed for me hahaha)

Heavy rain is actually the best, especially if its been going on for days, then a tram actually has a lot of braking power compared to a bus, which has the opposite problem of course.

Its all got to do with the nature of metal against metal, that is very different from rubber against asphalt :-)

Who I did not expect that 😅 Thank you for the tram driving lessons. I am never crossing a tram at the tram stop any more

Haha, that is actually a good idea! Unless its been raining forever 😄

Actually I still will never drive across any rails without checking visually in both directions, I saw soooo many super dangerous f***-ups, often a mix of human error and messy tech...

It would be a good idea, too, if getting a driver license for an ordinary car would include an hour driving a bus, that way people would get a far better understanding of the danger of weight in motion!
