Photography At The Highest Level

in Photography Lovers2 days ago

No, not my photography. I'd never say anything like that about my own photos as that's for the viewer to decide. What I'm referring to here is the photography exhibition I visited in February and has never posted about it. It's time to get myself together and start sharing the beauties I've seen over the past few months.

Photography At The Highest Level.jpg

These photos were taken by the member of a certain photo club and exhibited in an exhibition room I'm always visiting.

I'm going to start with these two amazing photos. I don't know why, but these were hang in the staircase, above the stairs and I had to work magic, to be able to take a half decent photo of them.

20250214_115207a.JPG

We have a few photographers in this community, who are into this genre, I'm not yet, but I hope to try it out one day. I love these two by the way. They are real artworks in my eyes and using black and white is always an excellent idea as it takes away the distraction.

I think this photo speaks for itself and shows you why I chose the tile "Photography At The Highest Level". These are not usual, ordinary photos you see all over. Catching the dog in the air so nicely requires some skills and an adequate equipment as well.

20250214_115300a.JPG

It was super frustrated to see how glare and reflections ruined this lovely photo. What a shame, but what can you do?

20250214_115310a.JPG

Bugs and spiders are not my favorite subject to photograph and I don't think I've ever focused on those, but this photo is exceptional for several reasons. The rusty color of the spider goes exceptionally well with the pale background and the lovely white plant it is on. Look at the buds (or what those lovely shaped things are). I guess this photo ticks all the boxes.

20250214_115317a.JPG

Scary to meet it in person, but the lens is protecting you and the end result worth is.

20250214_115330a.JPG

Airs shows is not for everyone, you need to be at the right place the right time and know what you're doing, if you want such lovely results. Here the colors were amazing, but again, could not take a photo from a better angle.

20250214_115336a.JPG

I would name this photo Village Life. Look at the lovely brown and the pale blue combination, serving as a perfect background for the white animals. Lovely.

20250214_115344a.JPG

Still life photos belong to the 19th and the first half of the 20th century in my eyes, but I love them. I don't think these will ever be outdated. For me, such a painting or photograph represent peace and calmness.

20250214_115358a.JPG

Those light are the culprit, my biggest enemies, but if I turn them off, it's even worse.

20250214_115408a.JPG

After years of experimenting, trust me, I can tell you, taking photos in these conditions is an art.

20250214_115434a.JPG

This is where the fun begins. These photos worth gold in my eyes. First of all, the traditional folk costumes are always a thing to appreciate. Secondly, look at the interaction between the two girls, the expression on their face. Thirdly, wearing costumes that were for every day in the 18th - 19th century and holding a mobile phone is ... just beautiful 😄 Better than this is only when a musketeer is on his mobile phone.

20250214_115445a.JPG

This was another beauty. Look at that lovely landscape, with white trees and the small wooden cabin. I'd call this forgotten by time, or where time has stopped. Love it!

20250214_115500a.JPG

Bittersweet moments of life. Goodby kiss at the train station. I love it!

20250214_115515a.JPG

Carnival time! These costumes and masks are rarity already as you only see village people keeping the tradition going.

20250214_115520a.JPG

This was a lovely one, golden hour at the U-turn, but ruined by the reflection.

20250214_115542a.JPG

The world of rhythmic gymnastics is fascinating and colorful. This edit is especially interesting as it has the background to add to that.

If I were to choose only one, I'd choose the two two girls in folk costumes. I hope one nice day I'll have the occasion to participate at an event, where different folk costumes are displayed and worn and take a tone of photos.

If I were to choose two, then I'd add the two photos I have in the first shot. If I were to add another, that would be the flying dog, and so on.

What about you? Let me know in a comment.

I absolutely love the golden hour, it's just great, that's my favorite

Second one the landscape with snow, it gives a really relaxing vibe, as if time stopped and you watch from outside

The first, the black and white one are a style I've never seen, in my opinion the give more artist value, it's like the 2 sides (good and bad) fighting inside you

The first, the black and white one are a style I've never seen, in my opinion the give more artist value, it's like the 2 sides (good and bad) fighting inside you

That's an interesting approach and I agree with you, it can easily be. There were so many good ones at this exhibition.

Omg ...... What a wonderful exhibition, what wonderful photos, beautiful. First of all, it's hard to choose the best photo because they are all perfect (I can imagine them without all these spotlights). If I may and can, I got the urge to rank them from my point of view from best to worst:
So, the first two are definitely the best (I don't know which one is better for me). By the way, I love ICM (I think this is the recording technique). I admire such works and their authors for their skill.
Next up is a great photo of a dog running.
Followed by forgotten by time, or where time has stopped and Golden Hour
Then The world of rhythmic gymnastics and Goodby Kiss
I'm sorry I made this order at first, but I stand by my first opinion, so next are sweet girls in traditional folk costumes (although, I'm sorry, there's a really wonderful photo that deserved more attention and order than this one) and Carnival Time
Next are two excellent and very good Macro photos
Air Show and Village life - second place from the bottom
And at the very end, an excellent and warm Still Life photo
Here, that would be my order, I hope there will be no objections to such an extensive comment, but I just got the desire to order them from my point of view
Thank you so much @erikah what enabled us to see such a wonderful exhibition of photographs

There's never any objection regarding the comment length, as long as it is on topic 😄

Thank you for sharing your list. It's interesting to see who likes what and trust me, there are never two people to like the same things and in this case, to put these photos in the same order. Never.

I'm glad you have so many favorites. It was a lovely exhibition and I still have photos I didn't post yet 😉

❤️❤️

Been a while since I last attended an exhibition. Your posts always remind me how little time I invest in these, and I feel guilty for it 🙁

Bad girl! 😆 I bet there are a bunch of exhibitions around you, that are waiting to be visited.

Those are such an amazing photographs!

They are indeed.

Most of those photos look great, My favorite ones are first three. But I have a hate relationship with hornets and others flying and stinging things. So after meeting one so huge I would probably run away.😛

They are real artworks in my eyes and using black and white is always an excellent idea as it takes away the distraction.

I am not a photographer. But returning to not colorful art after all those years is both challenging and interesting. When I started making art I only made a few pieces without color. But now when I started making manga I think that black and white works kinda stand out in their own unique way.

I'm not a fan of them either and hardly ever photograph insects, but when you have a proper lens, there's not much danger.

Black and white has a lot of advantages if it's used right.

This creation I love the most..

I'm glad you like it as it's exceptional. You don't see such photos on every corner.

Never been to an exhibition before, but could actually see myself walking down the hall with this amazing works. I kept staring at the second frame with the dog in it. Was truly beautiful..nice work and nice photography

Never been to an exhibition before

What are you waiting for? In my country and not only, kids are taken to exhibitions at kindergarten. Obviously to the appropriate ones, as well as to Puppetry and shows, concerts dedicated to kids. That's how you make them to appreciate art of all kinds.

It's quite different here, they rarely appreciate art. If i want to see or visit any art gallery, i will have to travel to a different state. Hoping to do it soon thou.

That is sad, really sad. I hope things change as art is important and starting from a young age is also important.

I hope so too. Thank you 😊

Pleasure.

So many amazing pieces of art and from so many types of photography 🤩 I really like also the insect shots. Macro photography is something I never tried but definitely want to get into it one day.

I love to share these photos and we have a lot of amazing photographers here, but I don't know how many have access to photo exhibitions. This way they can see what others are photographing, plus I sometimes go to exhibitions made of award winning shots, which is the highest level if you will.

Macro is very nice, if you have the gear for it and knowing how talented you are, I bet you'll ace it 😉.

I think it must be very inspirational to see those pictures in big format on a wall. It's a big difference to seeing them only on screens all the time. I should consider visiting photo exhibitions sometimes myself.

Thank you so much, as soon as I try, I will definitely shot my results here 😃

Indeed, it's a different experience to see them big on the wall.

Going to exhibitions is a lot of fun, trust me. You learn a lot as a photographer and get inspiration too.

I'm really happy to know you like these and would love to see what you bring us from the exhibition 😀

I've got my work in a local exhibition at the moment. It is really great to see the other photographer's work at the same time, hanging in the same space.

Not as competition, but to see what others are doing with the medium - and what they feel is worth submitting to a gallery.
