Today was yet another day for art. I didn't mind, as last week was full stress, on the contrary, I was happy to take my mind off of the problems and enjoy walking in another world.
This heatwave that is terrorizing most of Europe is not spearing us either, so at 9.30 am I was already at the first exhibition, hoping to finish early and come home to my air conditioned study, which I did.
After visiting all the three temporary exhibitions, I can say, it was pure pleasure to walk through the galleries and imagine myself in a different world, or dimension. I'm a bit confused, don't know which exhibition to write about, so let's respect the visiting order and start with the solo exhibition of Eduárd Csupán, called Beyond the Forest and I can assure you, the title was really accurate.
This is what you see when you step into the the gallery and you can see why the title.
At the current temperatures, you could smell the paint in the gallery, something I like and today I had part of it in two places, as these were quite recent paintings.
Survival
There's a lot to say about this amazing painting, starting from the lovely colors, that are my favorite, since I'm a huge fan of green and blue on the same canvas, to what this tree trunk represents, but I think I'll let you enjoy it, without saying much here.
Beyond The Forest
The painting that gives the name of the exhibition, an absolutely amazing piece I could imagine as a scene in the movie, if you like. Even though the exhibition was extraordinary, I struggled a little, due to the size of the paintings. You can see how big they were and although the bottom was close to the ground, to top was over my head and when you're photographing oil on canvas, glare is what you have to fight.
Putting aside the inconvenience, I find it amazing how detailed these paintings were. When you see a painting of this size, everything matters but in this case, the artist focused on details and this is what makes the paintings so lifelike.
The Mysterious Light
Like in so many cases, I was looking at that mysterious light and there it was. Without wanting to exaggerate, the painting looked so real, you almost wanted to step in the creek and as tired and warn out as I am, that's exactly what I would do, if I were not tied to the city for now. I am longing for that fresh air, the sound of the forest and the clean water a place like this can offer and this means the artist has reached his goal as he was able to have this effect on me with this painting.
Creek Bistra
The funny thing is, I know this creek but even if you have not been there, you can imagine the place just by looking at the painting. What it interesting at this painting is the water looks like when you're using long exposure, but it's not the case with painting of course.
Between Stones
I wish I could have this amazing canvas on my wall, but chances for that to happen are none, for several reasons. It would make my day brighter for sure, but I need to move to a bigger place to have a huge room with enough space for art.
Mystery
Painting style changes a little here.
Although it may look like a scene from a movie of a certain genre, it is still real and it's not science fiction. Here the artist didn't skimp on the paint and it looks like a 3D artwork as there's quite a lot of excess paint added to it, especially where the yellow part is. it makes it more interesting.
After leaving the exhibition, I was thinking of how lucky we are, to be able to photograph everything these days and add to the memories we have in our head, to strengthen it basically as memories tend fade in time. This way you can refresh your memories any time, an option previous generations didn't have.
