My initial plan for today was to come with another art cocktail post, as I love mixing those, but while browsing through my folders, I found one that has never been posted. A whole exhibition, a small one, but not one photo has been posted and I didn't even know I have it. Nice work Erika!
So today I'm going to show you a very different type of art, from a commemorative exhibition organized for Anna Z. Erdei, that took place in January 2024, as the artist passed away in 2023. It was a bit heartbreaking to know the artist passed away only a month ago.
It was really difficult to take photos at this exhibition, as all the drawings, graphics were under glass and I don't think I have to tell you what that means. As it seems now, most likely I'm not going to be able to post all the photos I took, but I'll try my best to make those I post decent.
Courtyard From Szentistván (2010)
It's a colored drawing, something I haven't seen for ages. I mean I've seen drawings and graphics, but this is very different.
Church On The Top Of The Hill (1987)
Funny how the human mind works, or better yet, how my mind works. I totally forgot to post about this exhibition, but now that I found the photos and had a look, remembered some of the drawings, graphics and even the thoughts I had at the exhibition.
This drawing was one of the artworks that made me think. It's a very simple, monochrome drawing, minimalist if you like. It was this drawing, that made me think that you can create beautiful things with very little. Simple lines with a charcoal or graphite, just by knowing how to use them and the shades.
A lovely unique landscape, that I'd be happy to own. The drawing had a nice texture. I like when you can see the texture of the paper and here you definitely could. Now, if you have a closer look, you can see that mixing pencil colors is not the same as mixing oil or watercolor. You can still do it, but in a different way.

Csíkszentdomokos (2019)
The reason I like these drawings so much is because it's the art style closest to me. Meaning the only thing I can do is drawing (not that I'm good at it, but still), so for me, this looks almost achievable, with a little practice. In 2018, when I joined Hive, I started drawing and had the impression that those practice sessions could take me somewhere, but then came trading and took up all my free time.
This drawing is lovely in my eyes. I love the angle of the street and how the artist chose to highlight the entrance of the gate and the house while placing the rest in the shadow, so to speak, by making them darker.
Maros Valley
Switching style, swinging from soft drawing to darker, more prominent lines. Maros in a river crossing Transylvania, but I'm not sure if the white part means ice here. It's very different from the previous works, but I like this one too.
Wintertime (1986)
This reminds me of barns I saw at my grandparents' village. Some villagers had these wooden barns and back then we had plenty of snow during winter, so I almost could point out where I saw such barns. I like this one too.
Summertime
After wintertime, comes summertime, with a huge shift in style. This artwork is nothing like the previous ones and now you can see the talent of the artist. I guess this is going to be the riddle of the day as most likely you miss those :)
Borospatak (2011)
Back to soft lines again. It amazes me how wonderful drawings you can create with a few pencils and lines. Yes, we wish it would be that simple, but you need a considerate amount of talent as well, which the artist clearly had.
These drawings are very different from what I've shown you lately, but for me, they are just as valuable as the other ones, for several reasons.
Apologies for the reflections and glare. I hope you can still see the beauty of the art posted today.
