Last month I visited my dad because my help was needed. I was there for a week and although I was busy, made sure to make time to visit my dad's neighbor. I always do that because he has livestock and I not only love to watch them but also love to take photos of them. Nowadays taking photos of livestock is a rare occasion, I could even say it's a privilege and I'm happy there's a place where I can do that.
He mostly has bunnies, rabbits, pigs and turkey. He had a crazy dog that used to be barking 24/7, but was too old and went to the other side last year.
He has sent a message, that he has a surprise for me and was really curious to see what it is.
Meet Erika 😍😆 This cutie has been named after me. She is a real beauty, you'll see in the photos below.
Most of you only know plush rabbits or bunnies, but these cuties exist in real life 😜
There's a story behind this name giving as well and I'm going to share it with you in a bit, so bear with me.
Usually what happens at these occasions is that I am trying to take as many photos as I can, then select those that are not blurry and out of focus. If you've ever photographed animals, you know that's not an easy task and you basically rely on luck and the temper of the animal.
I was lucky as I had the chance to pet her, but that's not always the case.
After my small victory, I was really happy I could pet her, was also thinking she can feel we have a certain connection, then she did this. She actually showed me her tongue 😆
I'm not sure what she meant by this gesture, but I love her regardless. In case you're wondering, I don't do that 😆, unless in a chat or social media platforms, but even so, only rarely and never in real life.
Overall I was really happy with the outcome, I only had to delete like 10 photos and got 9 good ones, that's already a win for me, when it comes to animals. You can't expect more.
It was really hard to say goodbye to her, would have loved to play with her all day, but she's not a pet and not used to people playing with her either.
These two are the reason for everything 😂. When my neighbor bought them, they were small piglets and my dad asked me to give them names. The most obvious and funny solution was to name then after my dad and his neighbor. They both laughed as it was a big joke, but the result of this was, these two pigs are now wearing their names.
As some kind of revenge, or retaliation, in a nice way though, my neighbor named the bunny after me. I'm happy with that as at least the bunny is cute and it's not a ... big pig 😆
So when I visited the bunnies, paid a visit to these two and tried to take some photos, but this is a way more difficult task, than the one before. These two pigs were not as afraid and shy as the bunny and were more interested in my phone and in licking my jeans, then posing.
While other photographers usually are busy checking settings, light and so on, I was busy protecting myself as these two literally were targeting me without any shame 😆
Here the balance was more negative as most of the photos had to be deleted due to being blurry, out of focus and subjects out of the photo.
And this was the hardest part, when you have several animals in a small place and each of them is moving. This is the only photo that I can post, the rest ended up in the bin.
Last, but not least, there was this cutie pie with red eyes.
