I miss plastic bags. Now we have to buy garbage bags, compost bags, lunch bags, etc. It's ridiculous. Everything is wrapped in 3 layers of plastic and dyed cardboard anyways. If they want to tackle waste or excessive CO2 usage there are far better ways.

The packaging mayhem kills me. So much plastic everywhere. Oil companies are making the pivot to plastic so they can maintain their production as people electrify so we can't even make any progress.
Even being mindful and trying to avoid plastic, it's just not 100% no matter how hard I try. You'd think humans hadn't existed without it for thousands of years. 😮‍💨
Don't get me wrong - it has its uses, like sterile medical equipment, yes, wonderful. But the current levels are crazy.

Do you city compost, and you're supposed to put it in compost bags? I just collect it in an old yogurt tub in the kitchen and empty it into the bin out on the balcony. The city compost here is only available to houses, though a law was passed to make it available to apartments too, we don't have an eta for when that gets implemented yet.

I just dump it in the compost bin with the yard waste. They make us put kitty litter in bags, probably because it makes a mess of a truck. I try to make meals from scratch, that's the best way to save on packaging. We consume too many finished goods in the west which is the real problem.

And yes, wrapping sterilized medical goods is fine. But the PPE garbage during covid, all those disposable masks and gloves went above and beyond logic.
