RE: New Tunes 12.1.2024

in Musiclast year

Too late!
I know.
But the dreamer who doesn't know how to cut time out of his own ribs, what should he do?

  1. The Black Keys - If I turn the clock back 12 years and listen to Lonely Boy, not much has changed. Good - but I miss the progress.

  2. Filip Bukrshliev Trio - Macedonian storytellers who can keep the tension up and use all genres of music.

  3. IDEM - I apologise. Maybe it's because I'm an incurable nostalgic. But I would prefer Gobec, Bare and Rundek on the headphones.

  4. Kula Shaker - music to enjoy. Especially as I think David Bowie and Iggy Pop rolled out a carpet here.

5 Eyot - There is probably no region where jazz is more versatile than on the Balkans. Take a month, start in Bulgaria and end in the Karavanke Mountains. Pleasure and surprises are guaranteed.
The focus here is absolutely on the pleasure of it.

As every week: standing ovations!

It's not too late, just right :)

  • I agree that the Black Keys haven't offered anything new since Lonely Boy, well maybe the Delta Blues album a couple of years ago
  • I think Gobec, Bare, and Rundek are above this category, by summer nostalgia I meant more those bands from Split that play such summer pop
  • thanks for the ovation, I'll keep trying to find something new, maybe I've neglected the Balkans too much because maybe not everything would be acceptable to a wider audience. I did find one interesting site with new ex-Yu music, if you're interested NevidljivaTopLista

I have to admit that I'm a stubborn idiot when I have the feeling that I'm the discoverer of good music. When Goran released the album "Tales and songs from weddings and funerals", this new sound blasted out of the speakers in my car - regardless of who was sitting next to me. If someone doesn't want to realise that they are being served good music, then they need an extra helping of it! They'll thank me for it someday :-)
This is exactly the reason why you should never put a limit on your excursions in the Balkans!
(I can't open the top list at the moment. Maybe I should try to knock on the door of my firewall?)

Goran is a great artist, but sometimes I have distance from him because he stole a lot of music and traditional folk motifs he used to sign for his own... well, maybe now with arrangements and production of others he is giving it back, but I agree that he is great.
Hmmm, top lists work for me, maybe was just momentary or lost signal?
