What an interesting week so far, Bitcoin pushed back up above $110,000 yet once again. Now it's down but seems to have support at $109,000, we could be seeing some new all time highs very shortly! Hive nearly made it to $0.25 but didn't quite make it, maybe later today we'll see it happen.
Being Tuesday once again, I'll be sharing a Three Tune Tuesday. First off I want to say thank you to @ablaze for starting and continuing to sponsor this fun weekly event where you can share three fun songs that you enjoy. One lucky participant will win some HSBI units, they are the gift that keeps on giving! So if you don't already participate feel free to jump in, just use the tag #ttt or #threetunetuesday and it's never a bad idea to do a shoutout to @ablaze .
This week I decided to do something different. I'm going with something a little more obscure and underappreciated from the post punk/new wave movement of the early 1980's. It's principally about Stan Ridgway, a singer from Los Angeles, that first fronted a band called Wall of Voodoo. Let's dive on in!

Wall of Voodoo
The band was formed in 1977 in Los Angeles, California by Stan Ridgway who had a soundtrack business across the street from punk club "The Masque". He gradually got pulled into the music scene and the band was born. By 1980 they began to gain traction and pick up fans locally.
Then in 1982 they wrote a song about border blaster radio stations. Those were AM stations out of Mexico that used very high power and could reach large areas of the US, and were unlicensed. They would often overpower local stations using the same frequency. When radio stations switched to FM, agreements were made with the Mexican government preventing the same from happening on FM. This largely ended the border blasters.
That was the genesis of "Mexican Radio" which was the band's only real hit and was pushed by the newly formed MTV. Wall of Voodoo fell apart due to drug use prompting Ridgway and two other members to leave the band in 1983. But they produced this timeless classic, "Mexican Radio".

Stan Ridgway
Ridgway, after leaving Wall of Voodoo, pursued a successful solo career. In 1986 he released his first solo album The Big Heat where he explored several different musical styles, but almost always produced songs that were stories unto themselves. The first one I'm sharing is one of those, it was only a big hit in Australia, but I always liked it. It's about a cab driver who picks up a mysterious woman, have a listen.

Stan Ridgway
This next song also came off of The Big Heat and was Ridgway's biggest hit by far. It was a top ten hit in several European countries and fared well in Australia as well. In the US he never really topped the charts but had a very strong following. This song has the sound of a spaghetti western reminiscent of the Sergio Leone movies like "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" starring Clint Eastwood. However, the song was about a marine stranded during the Vietnam War, although never explicitly stated. It's always been one of my favorite songs that he wrote, have a listen.

That will wrap up this edition of Three Tune Tuesday. I hope you enjoyed Wall of Voodoo and Stan Ridgway, they produced some great music in the 1980's. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and thank you for all of your support. I do always greatly appreciate it! Have a great day everyone!
