I guess this has been a busy week, because it's already Tuesday and I'm not sure where Monday went! These days time seems to fly whether or not I'm having fun, the older I get the faster it seems to go. I guess the moral of the story is to enjoy every moment as we aren't going to live forever. At any rate, I hope you are all having a great week so far!
In case you haven't guessed yet, it's Tuesday once again and I'll be sharing another Three Tune Tuesday. First off I want to say thank you to @ablaze for starting and continuing to sponsor this fun weekly event where you can share three fun songs that you enjoy. One lucky participant will win some HSBI units, you can't have too many of those! So if you don't already participate feel free to jump in, just use the tag #ttt or #threetunetuesday and it's never a bad idea to do a shoutout to @ablaze .
Today I really had no idea what to share, but I have to give credit for inspiration to @geneeverett . His post gave me an idea for my song selections of the day. Let's kick it all off with The Runaways.
The Runaways
The Runaways were all female rock band formed in 1975 that featured future stars like Joan Jett and Lita Ford. They were fronted mainly by Cherie Currie but Joan Jett also took on vocals in several songs. They were highly successful as a band, but broke up in 1979. One of the lesser know songs is one that was written by Joan Jett who also was the lead singer on the tune. This is "I Love Playing with Fire":
The Go-Go's
The Go-Go's formed as a band in 1978 in Los Angeles, California. Their first album was released in 1981 called Beauty and the Beat. It was one of the most successful albums of the 1980's and continues to sell well even today. It also helped launched Belinda Carlisle's solo career. One of the biggest hits off the album was "Our Lips Are Sealed", this is a live performance from 1990:
Pat Benatar
Pat Benatar is one of the most successful female rock stars of the late 1970's and the 1980's. Her debut album released in 1979 called In the Heat of the Night which was a huge success. It was led off with this breakout hit "Heartbreaker".
And a bonus Joan Jett song!
Joan Jett
After The Runaways parted ways Joan Jett launched her own very successful solo career. In 1979 she released her first solo album before forming Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Here is a lesser know song of hers but has a nice hard rock edge. At beginning of the video you see a very brief cameo of Joey Ramone of the Ramones. This one is "Real Wild Child":
That will wrap up my post for this Three Tune Tuesday. I hope you enjoyed the selections, the 70's and 80's had some great female rock n' roll bands. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below. As always thank you so much for all of your support it is deeply appreciated. Have a great day everyone!
