I watched a documentary on KISS a year ago and was unsurprised to see how passionate and dedicated Gene and Paul were and surprised to see how destructive Ace (and Peter Criss) were generally. Alcoholism and drug use I guess. There was some footage of a very awkward interview where Ace was simply out of it. Good documentary if you run into it.
