I was reading a post the other day by @tarazkp, and it led to a conversation that made me think of this idea. If you want to see the original post, you can find it here. I remember as a young kid having advent calendars around the holiday time. Usually they were filled with lower quality chocolate, but back then I really didn't care because chocolate was chocolate.
These days they have advent calendars that have a big variety of items inside like small bottle of wine or whisky. I've even seen them made out of Legos before. Wouldn't that be cool?
Another thing we did when I was a kid is we would take take construction paper and cut it into strips, then we would use those strips to make chain links and form a large chain. The chain would hang in my bedroom and each night I would take a link off the chain until finally we got to Christmas Eve. It's basically just another way to count down the days. I could have just as easily scratched them off on a calendar, but what fun is that?
So today, I moved some HBD into HIVE and I set aside 25 HIVE for the #hiveadvent calendar.
This is going to work really similar to the old @hivetorch initiative with one small exception. Whoever gets the HIVE passed to them for the advent calendar keeps one Hive for themselves and then passes the rest on.
The Rules
Religion doesn't matter. It doesn't even matter if you celebrate Christmas, this is just something fun I wanted to do.
Don't be a dick and keep all the HIVE for yourself. The idea is for you to keep one HIVE and then pass the rest on. Be sure you can trust the person you send this to before you send the HIVE.
Try to wait a day before you send along the remaining HIVE. The idea is that by the time we reach Christmas we are at 1 HIVE left and the last person keeps that. If we blow through all the HIVE before we get to December 5th, that is going to be kind of lame. I mean, if it happens it happens, but let's try to keep it from happening.
When you send the HIVE please put hive advent in the memo field.
I don't want to mess up anyone's posting schedule, but try to write a post about when you send the HIVE. Please use the tag #hiveadvent and try to include these rules in the post so the next person knows what to do.
Getting things started
I'm going to send 25 HIVE to @silversaver888 today. If things go well, tomorrow she will send 24 HIVE to someone else she chooses. Then on Tuesday, the next person will send 23 HIVE to a person of their choosing and so on and so forth.
Pretty easy right? Again, by Christmas Day, there should only be 1 HIVE left and the last person gets to keep that.
