The Persian and Angora breeds are long-haired cat types. So it is often difficult to differentiate, especially for people who are not familiar with cats. However, there are actually very striking differences between Angora cats and Persian cats.

The Angora cat is a natural breed that originated in Turkey around the 15th century, with the characteristic of having beautiful white fur.
This cat, which is also known as the Turkish Angora, is believed to be a descendant of the African wild cat.

The Angora got its soft fur thanks to a spontaneous mutation or evolutionary adaptation to the harsh snowy climate of Ankara (formerly called the Angora).

On the other hand, it is not known exactly when or where the Persian cat first appeared. But in the 1600s, this breed was brought to Europe from Persia (today's Iran).

In the 1800s, Persian cats were introduced to England when they were exhibited at the Crystal Palace cat show.

The simplest and easiest difference between Angora and Persian cats is their physical appearance.

Quoted from the Animal Wised page, here are some physical differences between Persian vs Angora cats:

Persian cats have short, flat faces and very short noses, while Angoras have longer noses

The Persian cat's head is more rounded compared to the almond-shaped appearance of the Angora cat.

The Persian cat's eyes are large, round, and set far apart, while the Angora's eyes are large, almond-shaped, and tilted slightly upwards.

Persian cats are known for their small and round ears, while Angora cats have longer and pointed ears.

It is not uncommon for Angoras to have two different colored eyes because they are prone to heterochromia.

The Persian and Angora breeds have a variety of coat colors and patterns. However, Angora cats are generally white.

The Angora is slim and smooth with long tail feathers, while the Persian is somewhat square and muscular, with short legs and a short, thick tail.
