Hoy me dediqué a revisar los registros fotográficos de carnavales pasados, y aparté varias fotos lindas que trataré de compartir durante la semana de asueto. Hoy publicaré un par de fotos de los años 80, que datan de unos carnavales de mi ciudad natal, El Tigre, que ese año celebraba sus primeros carnavales turísticos y su aniversario número 50. Precisamente, hace unos días la ciudad cumplió su 92 aniversario, o sea, que esta foto tiene 42 años, y en ella yo tenía 15 años.
La historia de estos disfraces fue una competencia que se dio en la ciudad, en la que se premiarían las comparsas más originales elaboradas con nuestras manos. Nuestro grupo de amigos se juntó y creamos una comparsa de casi 20 integrantes entre chicos, chicas y niños.
Today I spent some time reviewing the photographic records of past carnivals, and I set aside several nice pictures that I will try to share during the week off. Today I will publish a couple of photos from the 80's, dating from the carnivals of my hometown, El Tigre, which that year celebrated its first tourist carnivals and its 50th anniversary. Precisely, a few days ago the city celebrated its 92nd anniversary, that is, this photo is 42 years old, and I was 15 years old in it.
The history of these costumes was a competition that took place in the city, in which the most original costumes made with our hands would be awarded. Our group of friends got together and we created a comparsa of almost 20 members between boys, girls and children.
Durante dos semanas nos reuníamos a diario por las tardes en el garaje de una amiga a fabricar nuestros trajes, y nuestras mamás confeccionando faldas y accesorios, pintando coronas, realmente fue una actividad muy divertida, disfrutamos esos días, y lo más valioso, afianzamos los lazos de amistad.
Recuerdo que una vecina que era brasileña, nos enseñó a bailar samba para poder hacerlo durante el desfile, y yo fui la reina de nuestro grupo. Siempre iba adelante, y tuve que bailar cuatro días seguidos, por varias horas, y ya me dolían las piernas. Los desfiles duraban muchas horas porque se hacían a lo largo de la avenida principal de la ciudad. No ganamos, pero fueron días memorables, que con gusto repetiría si volviera a nacer.
For two weeks we met daily in the afternoons in a friend's garage to make our costumes, and our moms making skirts and accessories, painting crowns, it was really a very fun activity, we enjoyed those days, and the most valuable thing, we strengthened the bonds of friendship.
I remember that a neighbor who was Brazilian taught us how to dance samba so we could do it during the parade, and I was the queen of our group. I always went in front, and I had to dance four days in a row, for several hours, and my legs were already aching. The parades lasted many hours because they were along the main avenue of the city. We did not win, but they were memorable days, which I would gladly repeat if I were born again.
