Hello everyone,
I would like to discuss WWE Backlash France. The night was hard for Jey Uso, and I’d love to share my thoughts.
So, during the event Damian Priest retained his World Heavyweight Championship. But it wasn’t all fair play. He had help from JD McDonagh and Finn Balor who made things much harder on Jey.
This guy’s journey to this match has been pretty wild. I mean, at WrestleMania XL he actually defeated his brother Jimmy Uso in a singles match – that must have been something else! Then on Night 2 he was involved in that insane “Bloodline Rules” match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.
Do you remember WrestleMania XL when Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns? Jimmy tried to interrupt Cody but Jey stopped him. That must have been difficult for Jey, being torn between family members and all.
Jey shared with Gorilla Position how emotional he was about Cody’s win during an interview. I can’t even imagine what that’s like. Watching someone else succeed in the biggest way possible after you’ve put so much effort into it yourself has got to be hard.
Despite this, Jey won a Fatal Four-Way Match on RAW. He beat Drew McIntyre, Ricochet, and Bronson Reed, thus becoming the number one contender for the world title. This is massive.
But this was before the WWE Backlash event, where Jey faced Damian Priest, and lost. It has to hurt – being within arm’s reach of championship gold only to see it slip away.
I caught a glimpse of what Rikishi had to say to his son on Instagram, and I think it’s awesome. He told Jey to keep his head up and keep grinding. And he’s right. Jey’s been nothing short of phenomenal lately, so I have no doubt he’ll be back in that title picture sooner rather than later.
Right now, it seems like Jey has to go to the end of the line and wait his turn. I’m curious who will step up against Damian Priest next. But I know Jey will be ready whenever he gets another opportunity.
So yeah, tough break for Jey Uso at WWE Backlash. He’s been doing great though, and I hope he gets back in the title picture soon.
That’s it for me. Be well everybody.
