Alright I apologize, I've been trying to post the cat judging video since yesterday for the winners of the Be a Curator Contest, but 3Speak has been down for maintenance and are still having problems, so I'll just announce the winners here and y'all are gonna have to trust me that Yuan chose the treats on the paper, lol:

Congrats to @novacadian and his nominees, @antisocialist, @derangedvisions, and @josediccus! Your prizes (3 HSBI and 300 Ecency points for novacadian and 150 Ecency points each for his nominees) were sent out yesterday.

New Contest

The Everything Broke This Week Contest 🤣

So, earlier I wrote that my blender broke this week, but I was able to order replacement parts online (they are in the dishwasher now, excite). Then I realized my heat wasn't working and called maintenance (I rent). Turns out the electrical transformer for all the apartments in my stack (all the apartments on top of each other in a row) went out and all of us lost heat. So they got our heat on but then it wasn't controllable by the thermostat anymore and was just on full blast. I like it warm, but it was 84°F in my apartment when I woke up today and even for me that's too hot, lol. So they've been replacing the zone valves for all of our heaters, because apparently they were all borked, as well. And then, on top of all that, my food processor went out (it just won't start, I think the motor died) this morning.

Sooooooo this week's contest is: in the comments, tell me about a time something you relied on broke, and how you managed to fix it/work around it/replace it.

Yuan will judge the humans and choose two winners.

First place

will get 3 @steembasicincone shares (HSBI is votes on your posts for life, the more shares you have, the bigger/more frequent the votes) AND 300 Ecency points.

Second place

will get 2 HSBI shares AND 150 Ecency points.

Please help me to feel good by telling me about overcoming life's little challenges of things breaking all at once! LOL

Have a good week, everyone!

for 3 days @phoenixwren

Aw thanks! :)

remember to mention me on the next posts so that I don't miss them and the possibility to promote them the first days..😉

Oh gosh sorry! I did totally forget. My brain was foggy that day.

Thanks for organising the contest, and also congrats to the winners and good luck to the participants in the next one. Have a great weekend.

I really love the strategy of this contest I must confess

Okay, this sounds lovely. I'd been bragging to a few of my friends that I made the meanest coconut rice in existence. And they took me on and I invited them to the house to prepare the meal. It was about 6pm and I tried blending the coconuts in the food processor. I heard a whirring sound and then a spark and it stopped moving.

I almost cried cause I really needed it to work that day and all the local grinders had closed. I did the unthinkable then by loosening the screws to see what it happened. Apparently, some bit of twine had gotten in it and had twisted itself all around some important valves. It took about forty five minutes to get it running but yeah, I did it.

And was doubly proud of myself too, cause I cooked the rice and they affirmed that it was one of the best they had ever eaten. Win-win.🤗

Ooh I'm so glad you were able to rescue your food processor! And that your dinner went well! :)
You are counted for the contest.

"Fraud I keep my stuff soooooo looooong that when it breaks down it is through sheer old age and so much so they stopped making the spare parts about twenty years ago 😍

On the other hand, the suspension rods that hold the car tailgate up went, and I just jammed the tailgate open with a mop handle 😂

Ahahahahaha I love that. Just don't let the tailgate fall on you!

😍

Interesting contest! Keep going!

There was a time I wanted to have a house party in my house, I had a speaker and I relied on it so much. Unfortunately, some of my friends who came early broke the speaker mistakenly and a nice guy offered to buy the speaker. He bought a better and more expensive one and my birthday was lit

Aw that was a nice birthday gift, I'm glad your birthday was awesome! :)

Congratulations to the winner 🥳...

So this contest took me down memory lane when I was craving Pounded Yam with Egusi Soup and anything I crave, I must eat. Pounded yam is a local delicacy amongst Nigerians, it is made by literally pounding boiled yam with Mortal and Pestle for quite a while till its stretchy and there are specific yams for pounding as the more starchy ones are being used.

After pounding the Yam to the desired stretchiness and smoothness, it can be eaten with any of the local Nigerian soup.

You see, pounded yam is not something you wake up to go make as it takes a lot of strength and energy to get a smooth and fluffy pounded yam but thanks to technology, one no longer has to go through the rigors of pounding as we now have an electric food processor that can process the yam even better than the mortal and pestle used for pounding locally.

On this particular day, I already made my soup but before I could process the yam the electricity went out. I did not panic as I have a generator and thought when plan A fails, plan B to the rescue. When the yam got ready, I went out to turn on the generator manually by dragging the generator rope so it sends command to produce electricity to power the house. It is a manual generator.

During the process of dragging the rope aggressively for the Generator to pick faster, the rope got cut and I wanted to cry. It was almost late at night and I can't get any technician to replace the rope and I could not do it myself.

What to do?
I had a delicacy to devour and I wasn't holding back as I decided to go the old fashioned way. I brought out my Mortal and Pestle I haven't used in a while, washed it and started pounding with all my might.

I managed to get the yam a bit stretchy and smooth so I removed it as I was already exhausted. All the hype I had for the food vanished as I did not enjoy the food much, I was too exhausted to even eat.

Awwww! I'm sorry, what terrible timing that was. You are entered for the contest!

Twas a terrible day but it’s now memorizes 😃… Thank you 🥰

Hi there!

7 years ago I had a crash and lost my car. The autoshop asked for enough money to buy a new one in order to fix it. Since then I have been relying on the not-so-public transportation system... and it seems that won't change, seeing how expensive cars have gotten recently. 😖

Oof, so sorry! I feel you though, I've never had a car and public transport in Colorado sucks.
You are counted for the contest! :)

A big thank you to Yuan for choosing my picks. Also a big thanks to the authors of my picks. It could not have been done without them. And finally an extra special thanks to Yuan's human, who is rumored to have given Yuan the contest idea in the first place. ✌️💛

Hahahaha, thank you :)
